General Car Chat / not the crank sensor
« on: 25 September 2015, 19:39:12 »
posted the other day that my crank sensor had failed but 2 days after fitting the replacement it started stalling again as you slowed down approaching junctions/traffic lights.did the paper clip test and came up code 74  Mass Air Flow Sensor Voltage High.no problem I thought got a couple of spares until I realised they were both the later type plug fitting but found some suitable connectors and made up 4x link wires between socket/plug and fingers crossed it's running spot on now.

General Car Chat / crank sensor

Just had a non genuine crankshaft sensor fail after only 18 months with less than 1500 miles covered.  >:( However it had a 2yr. warranty so got a free replacement 8) and will probably buy a genuine one and keep the non gen. as a spare.

Omega General Help / Hbv vac pipe
« on: 25 July 2015, 14:54:32 »
Is the vac pipe off the top of the hbv one continuous length of pipe that goes through a hole in the bulkhead grommet by the heater pipes or should there be a rubber connection like the one for the other vac pipes?

General Car Chat / oldest original hbv ?
« on: 21 July 2015, 17:46:42 »
got a trip planned in a few weeks so decided to tackle my hbv as the expansion tank needs topping up now and again and a faint whiff of coolant is present when i get out after a run.
first off i'd like to meet the evil psychopath at GM that decided on the valves location so as i had time on my hands i removed the wiper motor and linkage as well.
took the old one off and discovered this

wonder if the genuine replacement (made in china  >:( ) will last as long.

also found this pristine 20 yr old label on a bit of loom.

Omega General Help / just got an lpg kit for my elite....
« on: 15 December 2014, 13:03:48 »
.... still attached to the donor car.
2000 elite 3.0 auto. although it's down on the v5 as an MV6.

anyone know if there are going to be any compatibilty issues surrounding ecu's or otherwise.
the conversion was done in 2011 and mechanically it's had a lot of money thrown at it although cosmetically it's a bit of a shed.
and another bonus was finding a receipt for £248.98 for a pair of self levellers from Oct.2012
