General Discussion Area / Maybe a new tent is in order
« on: 01 April 2016, 18:29:26 »
Ive had a couple of tents now.....my latest one is pretty hard to put up by myself.

This one ive spotted maybe the answer to my problem.....it seems easy to put up....the only downside is a mechanical pump is the only recommended way of inflating it.....tho I do like the head room....

Chesty cough.....that  hurts when I cough and I get out of breath just walking about. (if I had to guess some sort of chest infection maybe)
So decided to phone the docs to get some antibiotics of some sort. I was shocked when the receptionist told me they were fully booked and advised me to go to a walk in centre  :o :o

What is the point of being registered to a docs and then being unable to see him  >:(

I did have a quick look on the website for the surgery. They have 5 doctors but all only work part time. Be a shame if they had to do a full weeks work  ::)

I do have a plan though.....there are two walk in centres in Swindon. I'm not going to town centre one......im told theres usually a 3 hour wait. The other one is at the hospital and as its not labelled as a walk in centre there will be less of a queue....Its a nightmare trying to get into the hospital at shift change (upto 30 mins to get in). Next sift change at 2pm.....so i'll wait until 3pm  ;)

Just changed my tariff and my mums also (her account is linked to mine, so I can see both our accounts when I log into my account)

Leccy 9.0261p/KWh Standing charge 17.808p/day
Gas 2.86665p/KWh Standing charge 17.808p/day

Its a better deal than I was on.....and seems pretty good to me  :)

Oh and supplier also gives me and my mum also the warm home discount of £140/year  :y

Any one got a better deal?

General Discussion Area / Good service from Vaillant
« on: 20 February 2016, 17:11:26 »
My 17 month boiler experienced a problem.....the outside temp sensor stopped working....so the controller went into a default mode and assumed the outside temp was 0c....thus meant the heating still worked but was making the boiler work harder than it needed to.

Call to Vaillant on Fri lunchtime.....explained the problem....heating type blokey booked for today!  :o
Turned up about 9.30am, replaced everything to do with the controller....that is controller + circuit board for controller fitted in the boiler + the outside temp sensor....

Carnt fault that service.....fixed within 24hrs of call under warranty  :y

I did ask why he was changing the whole lot and not just the outside temp sensor.....apparently it comes as a complete kit....so might as well change the lot  ::)

General Discussion Area / Windows 10 defender...
« on: 15 February 2016, 18:58:35 »
Doesn't appear that good imo....

Noticed some strangeness on my notebook.....and got defender to do a full scan....it found 3 viruses!  :o

So, why didn't it stop them to start with  :-\ and why only a full scan found them that took about 5 hours   :-\

Picking up new notebook tomorrow....not because of the viruses found but this 5 year old notebook has had it......it runs too slow for me on win10....on/off button is knackered....crashes most times coming out of hibernate....batt on the motherboard is fubared....it forgets date/time every reboot  :(
