Did think it was my dis pack causing missfire but decided to do paperclip test to check for anymore gremlins. When did test i had to do it twice because when the lights flashed there seemed to be a hesitation when the light flashed. I got the first digit ok (1) but there seemed to be a delay after 3 then another 5 making 8. 1+8=18. Took video on my phone.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / ECU location?
« on: 27 July 2009, 21:30:04 »
Ive had a problem with a missfire on my elite and did a paperclip test today. With engine not running codes 12, 31, 18. With engine running 12 and 18. I know 12 is the start sequence but 18 is "knock control module, replace Electronic Control Unit (ECU). Any idea where it is located so i can remove it and fit new one or get it repaired? Thanx.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: CDR2005/Trafficmaster Oracle.

Thanx for reply. The fitter did change one lead over as this was a Sony adapter lead. I didn't check to see if the TM switch on the dash lit up. I believe it lights up to show its active. As for the TM unit i couldn't see it when he took radio out. From posts on here the positioning of the unit may vary. I have got another TM unit and lead set from e-bay just in case i needed one. Will take the small panel off by the drivers window to see if switch is connected and try and trace leads to the control unit when i get time. Apart from that radio, steering wheel controls, display and Bose system all working ok.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CDR2005/Trafficmaster Oracle.
« on: 11 February 2008, 19:34:04 »
Hi, Need some advice. Just swapped my Sony single din radio/cd in a double din adapter unit for replacement CDR2005. Just had to replace one connector and plug in TM Oracle which had been disconnected from the Sony unit. All powered up ok and radio worked but i had no radio display on the dash display unit. The radio fitter ( 20 years experience working with vauxhalls ) disconnected the TM Oracle and display appeared as normal on dash display. Steering wheel controls work as they should. Checked all the plug connection for breaks and they seemed fine. It was starting to get dark so decided to go as it is and leave TM Oracle to a later date. Anybody got any suggestions as to what may be wrong?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Alarm sounding.
« on: 01 January 2008, 23:04:16 »
Hi, ok found sensor. :y looking at it all seemed ok but noticed that where the switch is activated by the bonnet there seems to be a, what i can best describe as, recess in the bonnet cover. it looked like when the bonnet is closed the switch may not be fully made. i could be wrong but is there supposed to be a pad or something in the recess?

Cant remember precicely the readings but i know they were just over and a fail. Yep, that`s all i did. Put a bottle of Forte in and did "tune up". :y

I know you have stated that you have used Redex injection cleaner but i had emission problem at a previous MOT and the tested recomended that i used a bottle of Forte injection cleaner. I put some in (£14 to £15 a bottle) and took it for an "Italian tune up" up a couple of junctions of the motorway and it passed ok the next day. Just a thought.  ;)

Omega General Help / Ignition switch removal.
« on: 10 August 2010, 21:23:01 »
I had to remove my ignition switch today as it packed up last night. It took me nearly four hours on and off to eventually turn the key. I followed the procedure in the maintenance guide section. However, what the guide does not show is the difficulty in locating something to depress the retaining clip to release the barrell. My steering wheel, even when turned, still did not give any direct access. I did manage to locate a 2.5mm allen key into the hole and carefully using a screwdriver for leverage manage to depress the clip and remove the mechanism. Please see pic. Thought i would post this in case any other members have to remove their switch in the future.

Omega General Help / Re: Barrel buggered/reinstall?
« on: 10 August 2010, 21:01:36 »
I presume the key was inserted and turned to position 1. This alows the spring clip to depress when re-inserting. Any other position and the clip is locked.  :y
