Omega General Help / TD Chip
« on: 18 April 2011, 21:17:15 »
I posted some time ago asking if anyone had come up with the option of switchable chips in a TD. No-one had, but this firm claims to offer the option: http://www.viezu.com/performance-widget/.  Has anyone tried one yet?

Point taken Byron, but I'm an Auto man from way back. Mine is definitely thirstier than it used to be, and I'm using a standard chip at present, an averaging  26.5 on local runs. :'(

Hi All,

I've paperclipped the car today as I'm having problems with starting, especially when hot. I have ordered plugs and filters to do a service.

The car comes up with code 34 as only faultcode : Injector timing out of range.

How do I fix this? Can I clear the faultcodes out of the system myself?

Marcel
Code 34 is the timing sensor inside the pump the only way to fix it is to replace the injector pump or get it overhauld by a bosch fuel pump specialist :(
you could try as mick says G/P and diesel magic it but I doubt it will work this works when code 64 shows(fuel Quantity out of range).
you could try the 30 faultless starts simply by turning on ignition waiting until managment light goes out turn off and repeat DONT start the engine then paperclip it again.
I have recently replaced my fuel pump and 34&64 were there I also have the hot start problem before and after new pump(re-con) was fitted.
34&64 have gone this has made a big difference in starting and fuel economy I was getting average 18mpg round town now getting 27mpg and cruising on m-way getting 46mpg average

Very interested in this MPG improvement. Mine does not have a hot start problem, but it could certainly do with more mpg. How much was the recon pump? I've only done 105,000.

Can anyone tell me if a 427 ECU will run in a TD that had a 428?
I realise that it would need Tech2 anyway, but just wonder if there is any other reason why it would not. :-/

TD's also have a known warm start problem. There is a fix available, which IIRC is to solve a worn fuel pump. Do a search, as I'm off to bed for an early start. :y

Turk did a nice video 'How to' on the poly bushes, but I can't find it now.
I put my car on wheel ramps, and it involved just undoing the front mounting, and burning out the rubber bush with a plumbers torch, then sawing through the two metal rings, then just put in the two-halved poly bush and refit. I used new bolts. Remember to torque load them with the weight on the wheels. To do both took me under two hours, and I wasn't rushing. :y

Please please don't apologise mate.

If it was'nt for your guide which you so kindly created and uploaded to the forum, I would be paying a mechanic my hard earned money to do a job that I can now do myself  :y :y :y

I was going to ask you why I need to replace the cam sensor but I did'nt want you thinking I was being funny ;D ;D ;D

And finally, and I promise to leave you in peace after this, that electrical connecter that unplugs from the sensor, is that the rectangular shaped thing that I was trying to explain in my first post....just want to be 110% sure.

Thanks a Million...your a gentleman  :y :y :y :y :y :y :y

No Problem  :y

Cam Cover on 2.2 is a nice easy job, nothing gets in the way, that guide was the first time I did that job, I spent all day doing it, rather than the couple of hours a mechanic would bodge though.

Its a very satisfying job, its not leaked yet and I've done 52k since I replaced it  :)

I can't help, but as Tunnie didn't spot your last qustion, here it is again:

Some radios have a fuse very carefully hidden behind them, requiring removal of radio to check! As in my CCRT700. Well done with all your work Griff. :y :y :y
