QuoteMy Omega has developed a whine when started from cold since the cold weather began. It only happens when the temperature is well below freezing.
Once warm it is silent again, it appears to be coming from the front of the engine, I think offside.
Any ideas what might need attention ?
So does mine mate, but Ive recently found out that if I leave the wife at home I dont hear it...
someone with some serious usefull info will be along shortly
i have an auto and i love it to bits after driving mostly manuals since i passed my test but i have had more problems with auto boxes than manual. but i have been told the clutch wears quicker on a manual than an auto thats a tough call
QuoteQuoteno need for 225, if I were you I'll go for 205 or max 215..
no need for wide expensive tires in winter..
That's the question I was asking, what variations can the OE wheels accept. :-?
Some 225's on ebay, £89 a set, but only 3-4mm left, so not really worth it.
winter tires must have a min 5mm tread depth to be deemed good! my habdbook only gives 225/55/16 as OEM for the 16's so i geuss you could put on thinner tyres but i don't know how it would affect your handling remember the snow won't be there the whole winter and then you'll be driving around on morris minor wheels!!

my garage not helped by 3 fileing systems in one. Car stuff, bike stuff and diy/“her” new bathroom stuff. Not rather happy!
And yes, good point about checking the bolt and check strap etc, weather easing at the weekend i believe?
QuoteAnd having cleaned it, only fill the bottle through a fine filter. Haven't had a problem with mine in 11 years following this procedure.I find using a sensible screenwash mixture stops the nasty 'white sludge' growth
Top man !, what's a bit of frostbite between mates as long as it saves a few bob & gets the car going?
So for geometric set up, the drivers seat really should have weight in it
