Omega General Help / Re: Metal oil filter housing
« on: 27 August 2016, 10:26:52 »
Trying to do a oil change before I invade Skegness next week and the oil filter metal housing is just starting to spin.

If I carry on turning, will it lock up so I can remove the filter ?

Looked at jamming it with a screwdriver as a last resort but don't want to end up replacing the crank sensor too.

Any idea's ?

Had this on both of mine - used a metal oil filter removal tool in the end to hold it and get it apart. Since I did this and only put it back on gently as it is meant to be no problem on any future changes  :y I think some garages wind them up far too tight.

15Nm iirc

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Re: Wanted: V6 Injector Loom
« on: 27 August 2016, 09:10:28 »
The engine loom under the plenum (with the 6 injector plugs) is easily sourced. As Gollum says, the other half generally gets scrapped with the car ::)

The other part being the engine loom ?

The other part being attached to he car that the engine loom plugs into ;) :y

I have the full loom from injectors and the full engine loom with grey plug that fits onto the injector loom and is still part of the engine loom, taken from a 3.2 :y off the car ready for posting if needed

Omega General Help / Re: 2.6 Air Bag Light
« on: 23 August 2016, 11:37:06 »
Well the old girl failed the MOT as expected but not really bad at all. Just Airbag light, handbrake, headlight adjustment and number plate light.

Got airbag light removed this morning by a local garage for a tenner so now on to the brakes, at least it's sunny today which will make it a bit more pleasant.

I always check all the bulb/lights before it goes for the MoT :-\

In between the torrential rain here, removed airbox, bagpipes and aux belt. Can now see the alternator and (assuming I have scrounged the right size spanner) tomorrow morning I'll pull it off and strip to the regulator so I can order a replacement.  :y

Got an alternator in the shed for a V6 but can't remember if its any god :-\ bugger

A prayer might get it to work?  ::)  ;D

that's what happens when you on a Sunday night shift ;D ;D :D

I believe I have one of the injector looms from under the plenum. Will have to double check. Free to good home.

I have, found it in the parts shed the other day but he said it had two grey plugs ? think I have a 3.2 engine loom too :y
