It is a CLIQUE  just look at the people who reply and agree with each other on this thread

It might come across as such but I don't feel that the OOF is a clique. Some of us have been here since Noah was a lad, have met each other & have made great friendships with each other. Having the same relationship with a name on the page is more difficult which is why the mention of cliques.
The ABS is also tagged with the same thing, but again, meeting people in the flesh makes the difference. 

You've summed that up perfectly Andy. To any of you who feel left out or think there is some kind of...dare i say ELITE element to our forum, get yourself along to a meet. You'll be made very welcome. Guy.

Is the answer not to close the General Discussion board or request the purveyors of political matters, or other material not deemed to be in keeping with the general tenor of a car forum to desist or leave - I'm more than happy to abide by the wishes of those who consider this to be such a problem but for Christ’s sake lets not beat about the bush and continue to pick at this perceived sore.

You know the fact that we all have/had Vauxhall Omegas in no way implies common ground on any other issue. We reflect society at large: the good, bad and ugly. We are not living in happy times and some of the posts reflect that. But it is good that if members feel unhappy about something they can post their views. It helps to know that others agree and we can have a joint rant.

If there is one thing I would change it is the sticky for jokes. I used to enjoy opening a thread and, unsuspectingly, come across a real howler. The sticky has moved the humour into a back cupboard, where few venture, I suspect. Some jokes deserve a thread of their own and enliven the board as a whole.

That said, Omega ownership will die out. It's inevitable. I mean, how many Model T forums are still in existence? 

Until they become classics like the big Granadas/Zodiacs/Crestas/Westminsters....

Despite my status...(i left & rejoined) & i don't even have a Mig anymore but this place is special. Of course because of time, more members, fall outs & general dissent among the ranks the nature of the beast will change & this is what we have to address. I joined up just before the first Lakesmeet with my first Omega & only just got online!!!! so have seen allsorts happen good & bad & have been alot more "colorful" in my stroppy rants & rows than i am now, this being down to the ageing process which also comes with the loss of loved ones & has given me a sense of perspective hence my now subdued presence. Point being as the forum ages the members & said life experiences age relatively which will have an effect. I've made some real friends on here over the years so it's all worthwhile & i'll be sticking around despite not being as "entertaining" as i used to be!!!, GuyXXX

      Debs, was that the 5 minute argument or the full half hour?

I could'nt care the cats cludgie for any football team or any of their players who are mostly not english @ mainly a bunch of overpaid precious hair gelling chest/leg waxing bunch of nancy boys who fight in public when they know they're being filmed & have back up to pull them out should they be about to take a kicking. I know many are passionate about the game & said teams. We all have hobbies so fair go but the game has become corperate & money driven.

  That said i LOVE to see David give Goliath a proper unexpected drubbing!!!

His pictures tell me of a strong tough man but equally as loving & caring to those close to him. My Dad's nearly 82 & sadly fading physically although he's on the ball mentally. It did'nt help his decline when we lost Mum suddenly @ only 71 after a short & cruel illness last July so i share your grief. He seemed to be a good proud man & you are right to be proud of him. I have nothing but respect & admiration for what men & women of thier generation went through.

  Mum left us this.:-

Did a personal effects job in Hendon today. When all was said & done the customer could'nt get this up his stairs & asked if he could leave it on the container. Being the obliging chap i am i said of course he could.   
     After meeting lodger Steve with his trailer it's now in my living room waiting to replace the tired unit in my den!

 

   It's handbuilt & of no real value but i trawl antique/salvage places & reckon it's worth £2/£300. It's pretty heavy & has a double drawer at the bottom. Either way it's bespoke & imperfect, certainly not fron Ikea etc. & being a bit of a nostalgic collecter of allsorts i'm made up with it!

A mate's daughter has just given birth to a 6 pound 11 oz boy. No more details yet but given said mate lost his Mum 3 months before i lost mine last year a new life is a breath of fresh air.

  I'm used to it as it's my job but if you've never been & are into extreme sports, go & have a play this weekend!!!

I'm pretty adventurous food wise & know these are a favourite jamaican food but heard they can be dodgy. Usually served in rice with salted fish. I've looked at recipes, yahoo etc. but are any of you actually familiar with them & how to prepare them safely?

   I've got a tin of them but not sure?

One like this has been my "next car" since i sold the Beastie...for me no other Mig could replace her. I could go out tomorrow, pay a deposit & finance one but within a year or two i can buy one outright. This one seems to be a baby & if the history & mileage all checked out i'd start with a low offer of 8k but be prepared to go up to £9500...£9000 would be better. Much as we love 'em they are pitched at a limited market. I can handle the fuel/ins. costs but does anyone know any places that can be trusted to service & repair them when needed?
