Aux Belt Tensioner.
« on: 26 May 2013, 18:42:32 »

I've replaced the Aux belt with VX Genuine GM and after starting up there was a sound hard to describe but eventually found out what was causing it the aux tensioner.. Where would be the best OOF recommended place to just buy that part at a reasonable price .. thanks  :)

Car in question is a "51" 2002 3.2 V6 Saloon..

Was it the pulley bearing that was noisy (I ain't looking at stupid gaytube links)? If so, buy a replacement pulley (only) from dealer/AndyC. No need for entire tensioner.

Remove the pulley from tensioner, and feel if the bearing is rough, or has play.

Gaytube vids, nope, never click on 'em. Google aren't quick enough to remove the infected ones  :-X

Try taking the pulley off and greasing the bearing.

Not imo no.It costs nothing to grease it,and if the problem is a dry bearing then it will be solved. If its a knackered bearing it will soon be obvious so then replace the pulley. ;)
