Fatty Brewer is full of child-like enthusiasm, which can become annoying after a while. :)

Far too much like Mr. Toad with his disregard for rhe truth and unjustified self-importance.
Seeing the way he "negotiates" on the programme, he isn't good at his part of the job either, whereas Edd does all the real work.

Too true! :y

When has he ever made a good, living wage,  profit on a car that they have restored? After all the buying of the vehicles and the investment in parts and labour by Edd, the selling price gives them a pitence of a profit. :o ;)

For opps sake... You don't want much for your car telly tax...

It's scripted entertainment not reality... ::)

Although the projects they did generally have the potential to be plausible/viable  ;)

It's clearly not about what profit they make, as it's just a tv show, but I really do object to the way Brewer assumes seniority over Edd, likening China to his "boy" who will fix any crap that he buys without demur and does very little himself - except to try to take all the glory for himself.
Did I say that I don't like him?

I've met Edd China - seemed like a nice bloke. He also used to regularly be at his gaff around the corner from my house in Bracknell.
Not met Edd's replacement, but he has something of a reputation..

I reckon Mike probably isn't half as annoying in real life, to be honest.

Yes, DG, you did - but that's obvious, and carefully rehearsed.
Apparently, some of the "public" are production team members, who also end up with the restored cars afterwards.
That doesn't make Brewer any less of a turd, however!

Get rid of Brewer ,he's a crap used car dealer at best
make a new program with Edd China and Ant anstead and Mark Evans
and make it cars that people actually buy and use
not crappy niche market toy cars that never get used .

Agreed, obviously!
Does he think that we are all fools and that he can get away with his blatant lies in front of a tv audience?
An example that comes readily to mind is with that Mini Moke.
He argued with Edd regarding the white bits on the car, and then very loudly again when Edd changed the seat covers, etc., to white.
In front of his potential buyer, he asked what he thought of the interior colours.
"Fine", said the customer. "I like it"
"yes", replied Brewer,. "I decided on it myself"!  :o :o ::)

The quiet chap Paul, who occasionally helps out Edd in the workshop and turns up with the yellow van and trailer when Brewers latest POS breaks down, is actually the shows technical advisor.  ;)

No, it's the one with Tim "Parts blagging" Shaw and Fuzz Townshend (ex technical editor of Practical Classics and drummer for Pop Will Eat Itself back in the 90s..)

Car SOS is the best of the restoration shows , only thing that spoils it is Tim "blagging" the parts , just so contrived

Well I think both WD and SOS are Entertaining, I must admit and Man Up to some of the SOS endings have more than once nearly had me tears, when you see the Joy on someones Face looking at his pride and joy.

Didnt that Ed China Fella have a big fall out with Mark Brewer off set over the fact that he was the only one doing all the Work and Mark claiming the credit or something like that.

Mike brewer wanted the focus of the show to be his wheeling and dealing and Eds work to be shown less

Attaboy productions sold out to an American outfit.
Along came the American car buying road trips and then the US workshop.
Then the US company started to dictate the shows content saying they wanted less technical bits
(playing down to the US viewer?)
Edd got brassed off with that and decided to leave.
Mike has since had death threats about Edds leaving
Not seen the new shows with Ant.
I prefer Fast and Loud personally as I like the stuff they do

That's the complete opposite to what the viewers want, especially as Brewer can't even do what little he contributes properly!
It would be better if Edd went with him to assess the potential purchases; that way he could reject some of the disasters that Brewer buys.   ::)

I like F&L too, although I am willing to bet that Richard Rawlings is probably intensely annoying in person (and to work for)! ;D The spin-off, however, I find annoying.

Oddly enough, I thought the technical content (albeit at a very basic level) had increased in the last season of WD, with Ant doing lots of "whiteboard" explanations on how bits of car work..

Personally I have always preferred the American made TV car restoration reality shows, but especially Counting Cars.

That show has some good characters and what they do is far more entertaining, interesting, and real 'meaty' with some great and classic US cars involved.  They are a real heavyweight, and make Wheeler Dealer look like something made for school children! ::) ::)

Speaking of "not actually doing the work", how many researchers does Brewer have helping him find the cars, and Edd to have detailed dismantling guidance for his workshop efforts?

they wouldn't do one because it is branded vauxhall
If you check back out of all the cars ,none have been Vauxhall
think Mr China does not like the brand ,but happy to work on rubbish ford, citreon VW
the new series (after Edd) did do an opel
and opel did manufacture both omega A (carlton) and omega B

Appears to be something of a trend as Jeremy Clarkson and crew also seem to have a bit of a downer on Vauxhalls.Ok they're not the most desirable dogs danglies but they're easily as good as the rest of the class in their market segment.

The cars a bought a far while before the actual show, then the jobs that need doing are researched, and bolts lossend, etc,  and if my memory is still working Mr brewer has been trading around Bedfordshire for a good few years,,, as for not liking GM products, bet they wouldn't turn down an LC, if the price was right.

Clarkson's hateful review of the vectra ,back in the day, seriously hurt vauxhall
and Top Gear whilst entertainment became all supercars and not anything to do with what people actually drive  ::)

Time for a new tv show , reviewing everyday cars ,new and used and doing simple common fixes on them
they could call it .......top dealer gear sos rescue  ;D
OK maybe not
it would probably get a following off snackheads   ;D

probably a job for car sausage unless it was an LO (LHD)
those panels do trap water , which GM tin worm loves
so probably a bare metal nut and bolt restore ,which car sos do well
Brewer would "tidy it up" sort a few faults at best .

both of which are made by HSV and had Vauxhall badges stuck on,
like omega A (carlton), omega B, Zafira A and zafira  B being Opels with Vauxhall badges stuck on
maybe vauxhall should make a car , something RWD , there would probably be a market for a RWD executive saloon :P

simply cannot watch brewer on tv, met him at a garage back in the 80,s thought he was a gobby tubby arsehole, sometimes while channel hopping come across wd with ed doing something on a car and start watching it,the brewer comes on and i press the remote again to anything! someone did a bit of research into the cars they have"done" and all except one are now not mot or tax and many are in storage at tv centre!

I know the 190 Coswurf they did was written off a short time after they sold it. I suspect the buyers on the show are members of the production crew, or people dragged in off the street.

There are a couple of cars they did that I would have gladly been dragged off the street to buy.

Not at the prices they apparently sell them for though. I bought a Pug 205 GTi for £75 and sold it for £750, a couple of years after they bought a rough one for the price I sold my immaculate one for, and then sold it on for god knows how much.  ;)
