Is it so rough round your way that you have to fit Surface to Air Missiles to your car? :D :D

Fitted the replacement front SAM having finally retrieved it from the clutches of HMRC.

Heated steering wheel switch now works and the night vision is a.step closer to working. Basically it needs to be switched on in the Central Gateway and possibly the a couple of linked modules... :-\Distronic is going to require further head scratching though as the other module I acquired, whilst plug and play got all pissy about suddenly being in a right hand drive car ;D which threw up a few SRS codes >:(

The stupid thing is that Mercedes wire LHD and RHD cars as mirror images, so the car shouldn't car less as driver's side is always driver's side etc and not left/right ::)
WTF were HMRC doing with a module from your merc?  :o

Yup. Took them two goes to guess the amount. Seller has a registered office in the UK so it shouldn't have be whacked, but the discount they gave me more or less offset it.

Makes no odds, somebody has to pay to import, which can be either the seller or the buyer.

Eight times out of ten, stuff simply gets delivered. The thing that grates is the 'VAT free' handling charge that Parcelfarce slap on it... I doubt it's a coincidence that £12 is exactly the same as £10 + 20% ::)

I wonder how many people lost their jobs after this little lot
..

https://youtu.be/iEbN2PwJ-mU?si=YF9N67-05s_HO8Iq

They have no business driving with an IQ that low, what in the world did they expect to happen, even the vehicles meant for those conditions are taking a chance.
Note how the chap in the L200 took it nice and slow. He obviously appreciated the fact that his air intake was on the bonnet :y

If the bin wagon had rolled through rather than hit it like a train he'd have easily made it without issue.

Yes, I'd be willing to bet that the bin lorries air intake was just below the windscreen somewhere. The air filter housing would be lower, behind the front bumper, but should be watertight.

If he hadn't gone in like he was driving a Challenger tank....  ;D

I was just waiting for that Disco's auto box to explode when they were towing it out!

RM/Parcelfarce are one of the cheaper couriers for this. DHL were £16 last time I had to pay the "handling charge", I think UPS was even more.

I saw a lot of Mercs on recovery trucks today. I know the SAM on Smarts is prone to water ingress from rain, does it impact other Mercs?

Also saw 7 or 8 Prius' on recovery trucks as well

the 452/Roadster more so than others. Never had a problem with my 451 though. I suppose it impacts on ALL Mercs if you drive through 3' of water like a d1ckhead.
The wading depth of my ML isn't that deep even with its Airmatic & 'off road' pack. At least the air feed is bonnet level.
