Omega mods
« on: 10 February 2007, 18:59:39 »

I'm looking for some mods to do to my 3.0(auto) Omega, suspension, preformance really, maybe some styling mods.

I know most say that reaaly its not a preformance car but built for luxury, but I would like to do something to the suspension which i think is a built soggy.

I'm looking at a stainless steel exhaustv from cat back with removing the centre silencer and opting for dual silencers at the rear with the exits being on each side of the bumper.

Any views appreciated

I've had a quick look underneath and its a twin pipe back as far as the rearbox so hopefully a exhaust specialist can come up with something.

I am looking at the suspension issues right now.

I got a set of Irmscher springs. The rears were fitted yesterday (thanks Mark!  :y) and look superb on the MV6. The fronts will be done very soon once I can source some sensibly priced dampers!
Rears were now changed due to MOT fail on broken spring.

Bilstein sport dampers are recommended but will cost around £500 for the Omega!  :o

As for performance. Mtekperformance (member on here) chip upgrade.
Costs around £150 and is VERY highly recommended! :D

Quite a few members have them fitted and all (including me) have been very pleased with the improvement.
About a 10% gain in power usually (remember no turbo so gains are limited) and significant improvement in driveability.

For your exhaust try Powerflow, they have some great tailpipe choices and can make whatever you want, I had mine done in Stafford, they were reasonable priced too

If you want exhausts made bespoke, try http://www.longlife-exhausts.co.uk/.
I'm going to get them to put a quad ( duplex is another name is another name for it apparently) system on my 98 estate ( which they say they can do) should be doing it next month so will post pics once it's done.
They reckon at about £480 for this.

Oh well, and rather as I suspected, got Longlife to give the car a once over to check it is possible and guess what, they can't do it.
They said with a bigger rear bumper, they could get the second back box in and safely at a distance from the petrol tank, but getting a new bumper has always been my stumbling point.
So I'm going for a new system with sports Cats and a new tail pipe (and one exit only!).
Pics when it's done.

Now I know that this is miles away from you. BUT, I once used JP Exhausts in Macclesfield, they built and fitted some custom thru pipes for the cats on my Scorpio Cosworth, about £120, had a walk around Macc, bit of shopping tthen back to fetch the car  (FREE PARKING)  ;D ;D ;D, Anyway they also had a brand new Ferarri on the next ramp, the customer was a footballer from Man U, who wanted some more BHP, they had to take the gearbox and drive shafts out to custom make big bore pipes for it...

Too much damn money!!!

Anyway they're great with the exhausts
