Heat would be a prime candidate I would suggest, also the limited space for wiring.

Other than the heat though, you should be able to mount it anywhere you like.

No Electrical reason. Closer to the 12v supply, in fact, but you'll need to run a few more speaker cables to the rear. If the Bose wiring isn't already on the car then that's no more hassle. Less, in fact. You'd have to run the Bose loom to the back of the car anyway.

Can't see it generating a lot of heat. It's not that powerful and its' normal mounting shelf doesn't afford it a great deal of ventilation.

None whatsoever -

Heat generated from the unit is not going to be an issue, but to ensure thet the internal heatsink and cooling work on the amp, I would not change the orientation in the new locating, ie, not uspide down or on its side.

Nope, no reason, other than the rewiring work.

I was toying with moving mine to the tool area in the boot, and losing the shelf...

I did exactly that when I installed Bose in my 1998 MV6 in 2001!  :y That was when Omegas cost real money!

well that's good news then - i was thinking that maybe the length of cable from stereo to amp had been compensated for in the amp, or maybe that the acoustic properties were somehow dependant on the short run of wiring from amp to base speakers.

but it's good to know that others have already done it.

Might just put it where the auto box controller used to be.

In the Elite?

I thought the fitting of the Telematics in the shelf on the MV6 was good, better than the standard place using the glovebox.

Yes, in the Elite.  The MV6 has a well utilised shelf for CD Changer (as it can only take a single DIN headunit) and telematics that joshwyatt has currently nicked :P
