Long live diesel
« on: 21 July 2022, 21:40:13 »

Drove down to Bognor Regis this aft (sat nav didn't like the look of the M25, so took us past some place called Brackley) in wifey's Astra. Mostly motorway but a few A and B roads. 65.3mpg over 250 miles.
Don't say you're not jealous, Opti.

Impressive. I've got most of the return journey to do over the next few days in the new bus.

I'll be mighty impressed if I achieve half your figure!

I would suggest that 57.4 is an excellent average, especially after crawling through sleepy Hampshire.

At that sort of average speed my 2.4[petrol] V70 will return just under 42mpg[measured properly]or nearer 47mpg if you believe the trip computer.

25 MPG with a smile is far more fun than 65 MPG with gritted teeth and clenched arse cheeks. ;D

I'm told it doesn't make a great deal of difference.

Drove the disco home today, 75ish or slower in the speed camera zones. Climate control on, fridge switched on etc.

35.5mpg (measured, not on the trip).

Very happy with that!
