V6 thermostat replacement.. Need part numbers
« on: 14 August 2022, 18:42:09 »

Hi!
I recently bought myself an Opel Omega mv6 that has a coolant leak and bad thermostat.
It seems like the coolant is leaking from the extender pipe from the thermostat so I guess I'll buy new O-rings or replace the whole pipe..which I can't find.
The problem I'm facing is that I cannot find the correct seals/gaskets/O-rings (need part number) for the following :

Intake manifold seals (the plenum)
the black frame that the inlets under the plenum mounts on (the current ones are orange, I think the plate is called sandwhich plate.)
The gasket / seal under the sandwhich plate
Since I can't find a new pipe that connects to the thermostat I'm gonna have to replace those O-rings.

First Opel and V6, sorry for not knowing what the parts is called.

Kindest regards, Peter.

The inlet divider seals are reusable.

The coolant transfer pipe is still readily available, although you may have to look to the US for it. Genuine ones come with the O rings.

The inlet divider.. is that the part at the bottom which has orange seals? The bottom plate thingy?

Okay I will have a look at different websites, is 90411629 the part number of the transfer pipe?

Also there is alot of gunk, oil and coolant around that area.. bad valve cover gasket?

You might only need new O-rings. Part # 9129999 supercedes 90410899. O-rings should be available from anywhere that does O-ring seals. Can anybody confirm the size of the O-rings required?

I solved the o-rings for the pipe, called a local shop that was able to get their hands on them! I can post the part numbers if neccessary, don't have them on hand right now tho.
However I checked the coils which was full of oil so it's time for a rocker cover gasket aswell..

Contacted the same shop and they ordered them for me.. but to my surprise they're from Elring  :(
Should I just apply the Elring seal & use a bunch of silicone aswell?

In case anyone is looking for the transfer pipe I got mine from Amazon!  Shipped from the US within about 4 days.

Consult the guide here for details of where to apply sealer. The outside of the corners at the front and the half moons at the rear are the only places you need sealer. Also use the Vauxhall black oil pan sealer, or an equivalent product, listed in the guide. Don't use the green sealer listed in the Haynes manual. It eventually goes hard and crystalized.

Make sure the mating surfaces on the head and the covers are clean. No crud or varnish. The securing screws are tightened to a very low torque. It's important to get them evenly and correctly tightened. If you over tighten then you may distort the covers and they will leak.

If you are in Sweden you can find those O-rings at a SAAB-dealer/shop. They have a different partnumber but it is the same O-rings.

And if you're on Facebook you should join the group "Opelgruppen"
https://www.facebook.com/groups/opelgruppen

There are also two different thermostats, the one to the left is for later years, the other one is difficult to get down between the cylinder heads.
