Years ago we had a feral cat that seemed to be able to source it's own 'freshly caught food' 

That cat had a real attitude problem and I'm glad it's dead.

God that's a few years old , never liked Harry Enfield fortunately he didn't hang around for long.

Got my Sha Pei as a pup just old enough to leave her mother and have always fed her on dry food-with the occasional treat-she's 9yrs old now and always has access to her food and water.The last bag of food I bought her was last week and cost £9.99p for 20kgs this will easily last her 3mths.At a recent health check she weighed in at 21kgs.
