« on: 21 April 2012, 13:48:54 »

Hi all been a bit of a bad week for me had man flu and runny and counting chunks ill as you can imagine.

Any way as some of you know my key fob decided to die last week and everytime i lock the car and unlock it the alarm goes off, my (2nd hand) new ones turned up off ebay this morning

New, or alternate, fobs need to be coded as you say. Tech2 required for FL cars, not sure about MFL? Probably be the same actually, but early cars are different. You'll need to speak nicely to one of the tech2 oofers. There's a couple so you'd need to check who's closest  :y

There are several types of keyfob PCB too, so might not be compatible. 3rd one I bought was lucky. >:(

The one you have might well be repairable, though. You're welcome to pop round sometime and I'll see what I can do. :y

Indeed, the type is written on the back, but hard to read (different lighting often helps).

Generally, prefacelift cars with alarm and facelift estates with alarm use the fairly common Megamos 2 button.

Facelift saloons get a little more complex, as the Megamos 3 button is the one for alarmed cars, but I think Delphi bought out Megamos, and later ones are marked Delphi. However, these are different to some other Delphi 3 button ones.

Non alarmed cars use a different style (ie, GLS and 'Special' (ex-plod)).

Bosch ones, look identical, and very popular on other GM cars in the late 90s, are not compatible with any Omega.

I think that only refers to the actual blade though  :-\
Are there no markings on the inside of the black case, the back part?
