Omega General Help / ATF Filter
« on: 07 February 2025, 04:12:21 »
Hi I had a problem with my  1996 2L 16v yesterday Automatic Gearbox on display and it wouldn't go above 5mph think I've fixed it now it was throttle position sensor . It set me thinking of changing ATF and filter. There seems to be different styles of filter one with a pipe that sticks up one without tried putting reg in on a couple of sites both come up. Any ideas how I can find out which one without dropping the pan ?

Omega General Help / cam cover
« on: 06 August 2022, 15:55:28 »
My 2.0l failed mot because of an oil leak (passed on everything else yippee) just having a look and the usual cam cover gasket problem. I was amazed I hadnt been having any misfires because the sparkplugs were full up with oil. I have cleaned out the engine breather orifice regularly but I just flushed out the breather connections on the cover with a hosepipe  then compressed air an incredible amount of black carbon gunk came out. The cam cover has a broken bit where the gasket sits where it goes over the cam seal area so I could do with a new one any ideas the best place to source one ?. I think for now I will try bodging it with silicone to get it mot'd

There's plenty of later ones and got one off ebay but they are different a short bit of ally pipe with push connectors mine is one piece inc rubber hose. I tried some aluminium brazing rods to repair but not working. Just wondered if this has come up on here before ?

Newbie Welcome Area / Hello from Derbyshire UK
« on: 21 February 2020, 02:22:41 »
Greetings Omega owners I have a 1996 2L 16V CDX that Ive had for years but around 2011 the plastic radiator end gave way due to bonnet cable rubbing over the years it overheated and headgasket popped.I did the headgasket lapped the valves etc.but by then I had a van from work and its been stood taking up the garage since. But before Christmas someone ran into the side of my van (stoved the passenger door and side load in) so I decided to dust off the old Omega  :)its getting there now but times taken its toll. Battery ,alternator, exhaust was knacked could do with some tyres mot failed on emissions still battling new cat/lambda still high CO found a vacuum pipe off today try again, also the nonreturn valve on air injection leaking back and pipe getting hot  and pulsing when i squashed the pipe and blocked it brought the CO down not enough though  :-[ dont understand how it could effect CO readings? no leakage past shut off valve (bagpipe removal surgery needed ?) once its mot'd plan to tidy up the bodywork. Never Surrender  :y
