Omega General Help / Steering dust covers MOT advisories.
« on: 09 May 2024, 16:54:43 »
Took one of the 3.2's in for a MOT today, and got some advisories. i.e track rod end ball joint dust cover damaged or deteriorated X2,. Also Steering linkage ball joint dust cover damaged or deteriorated. So took a look on ebay, but came away clue less, as it seems that there appears to be a range of sizes. Any advice as to the correct items would be appreciated. TIA :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Irmscher fog light bulbs.
« on: 20 April 2024, 17:24:16 »
A couple of my cars have a fog light out, and as the MOT's are due in a few weeks, thought a couple of new bulbs.. job done. But when I took one of the non working bulbs out ,it's an H1, and not knowing the history on the car I wouldn't know whether that is the correct bulb  fitment for the Irmscher bumper. I know that the H1 or the HB4 are for the standard Omega fog lights, but that H1 gets really hot in those small Irmscher fog light housings, and was wondering, if anyone knows what is the  correct bulb and required wattage is. TIA

« on: 22 January 2024, 15:03:54 »

Omega General Help / crank shaft sensor query.
« on: 02 December 2023, 16:12:59 »
Having  the sheds out to try and make sense of all the spares bought over the last four years....shocking!! I've found five OE crank shaft sensors 90492006, and presume that they are for the 3.0. Question is..are they suitable for the 3.2 also? :-\TIA

Omega General Help / Boot not opening.
« on: 06 June 2023, 17:42:34 »
Just a quick one, the boot on the Elite won't open, everything checks out i.e nos switch fitted  and fuses checked, but no action up the rear end. :o So presuming there must be a duff solenoid lurking somewhere, just need some idea as to where. tia :y

Omega General Help / Elite jacking points corroded.
« on: 01 June 2023, 16:16:13 »
Just had a friendly verbal heads up from the MOT man. So thought I'd take a look this afternoon....and yes not looking good. So the question being, is a repair to all four points a feasible option, or should I send the car for scrap? :-\

Cars for Sale & wanted / Wanted, sill cover end cap.
« on: 31 January 2023, 10:10:08 »
Wanted sill cover end cap, my one got mullered in a crunch. If push comes to shove, I'll take the whole sill cover because the original is repairable and I'll keep what's left and save it for my next skirmish with a high kerb ::)

Omega General Help / Headlight adjuster replacement.
« on: 15 January 2023, 17:32:04 »
I know that the recognised method of separating the lens from the body, is sticking the whole thing into the oven and heating it up to soften the sealant to gain access to the broken adjuster. But just having received a red card in relation to using the oven and kitchen as a workshop ( I only want to do four) ::) bit harsh, so  that looks like a no! So the question is....has anyone either used a hair dryer or a heat gun to do the job and will it work? Now looks like I'll be  the green house for me if the advice is good. tia :y

Omega General Help / Under bonnet insulation clips.
« on: 18 October 2022, 20:22:24 »
The Elite has got a few insulation clips missing, and like most things Omega, I was wondering whether there possibly may be any alternative VX clips that would do the job. :-\ TIA

Omega General Help / A/C pipes.
« on: 02 September 2022, 07:56:24 »

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Expansion tank wanted.
« on: 07 July 2022, 16:22:37 »
Had a game of pin the donut down with the float in the expansion tank, but no luck. So had a look on fleabay, and there are some new ones available in Germany but...26.00 apiece and 34.00 postage, and  that's a no from me! So has anybody got one kicking around and for sale? it's just that coolant level warning is getting on my wick >:(  TIA :y

General Car Chat / Year 2000 F/L 3.0 a question of identity.
« on: 23 June 2022, 12:31:50 »
As above....this is the cop car. registered 7/11/2000 easy enough. But I seem to be running into a bit of confusion when trying to get bits and pieces for it. For instance.... A/C compressors have a cut off date at 09/99,which for some reason the PFL and the F/L items must differ in some way, anyone got any ideas on that one, as there doesn't seem to be a reason to fix something that already works. :-\

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / 3.0 A/C compressor wanted.
« on: 15 June 2022, 20:49:41 »
Went to get the A/C serviced today...garage said traces of dye on compressor pointing to a leak, so jog on as we ain't doing it :o So has any one got a suitable compressor kicking around, got to be in good working order TIA :y
