General Discussion Area / Re: Lanoguard
« on: 28 February 2021, 15:42:56 »
Lanolin extracted underbody and marine treatments have been used in the U.S for decades. Lanoguard is a pukka product, but it's not a one off treatment, as it's supposed to be redone once a year, and not where it will  be exposed to sunlight. I've used Bilt Hamber on two of the Omegas and the VXR8 was done professionally with the same. Omega No3 was going to get the BH treatment and being that it's rust free I thought about the Lanoguard, but the downside is that it'll have to be done every year and I might just not fancy topping it up year on year.....may well put it into Rustbusters and be done with it . :-\

Omega Gallery / Re: who has this

The red Omegas were attached to the Diplomatic Protection Group (DPG ) and they came about after various foreign embassies complained about the fact that they needed to actually see the cars attached to the group and to reassure the diplomats of their presence.... hence the colour red.
The car in the picture belongs to a serving SO19 instructor, and I'm in touch with him, but as he's not an OOF member, I won't name him. :-X hopefully this clears up the mystery of the red Omegas.

Al's sending me a couple, but I'm going to take all the bolts out on both seats and take a look at them.....just to see wether they are bodged. Can't see that, but the cars interior was changed way back before I got it and I think just for arguments sake it needs to be bottomed out. So thanks for your advice and if I get stuck I'll give you a shout. :y

Checked them, all OK,but it was the MOT man who found the missing one last week.....he was not happy >:(  and this is  all because the welder couldn't be arsed to put the seat back correctly. So as I pointed out to Nick, I've found a company up in Aylesbury that stock M8 Torx cap screws in 5mm increments right up to 50mm in stainless. Still a bit unsure which will be the right size ..perhaps the 35 and 40mm :-\

171
If they are nearly 50mm in length then that would be the same as the one I removed this morning, and to me they must be the longer version....but someone may come up with the answer to that....fingers crossed :y

O.K, if all else fails, I have found Westfield Fasteners who appear to have a good range of Torx bolts etc. Might be a bit of a crap shoot on the correct sizing, but they sell them in packs of five for around £3.50. So could order  two or three  different size packs  and with luck :-\ ....but only if I can't resolve it on here. :y

173
Do you mean the threaded section or the whole thing? :-\

174
Whipped the the other rear bolt out, no evidence of Loctite on the bolt.....but bolt measures from tip to tail at slightly less than two inches in the old money :-\

175
Cheers for that Nick :y

Many thanks Al and johnnydog, will sort something with either of you.And to help out on that size I'll take one off the car in the morning to check it (should have done it today) before it peed down ::)
