Year 2000 F/L 3.0 a question of identity.
« on: 23 June 2022, 12:31:50 »

As above....this is the cop car. registered 7/11/2000 easy enough. But I seem to be running into a bit of confusion when trying to get bits and pieces for it. For instance.... A/C compressors have a cut off date at 09/99,which for some reason the PFL and the F/L items must differ in some way, anyone got any ideas on that one, as there doesn't seem to be a reason to fix something that already works. :-\

The chassis number will give the build date. There is something hereabouts to decode it.

Also, your car is definitely a face-lift which matters for some things, but not much mechanically...

The difference on the compressors, could simply be a supplier or part number change following a design revision.

Usually, the new part will be a direct replacement for the old one.

Thank you, she's coming up for a birthday shortly...wish I was only twenty two. So I should be able to disregard that the fact that there aren't real links with the PFL other than a few tweaks and it should be OK to order any big ticket items such as the compressor etc without the worry of hopefully not having to return the item to its country of origin if bought in error. I've dropped a couple of expensive bo***cks recently, and as spares are now getting pricey, I just need to pull my head out of my backside and concentrate more  ::)

To be belts and braces before ordering, have a look on the current compressor for the part number. Should be visible from underneath, towards the rear from the large white plug.  :y

As GM no longer supply new compressors for the Omega, I can only look at the recon/exchange PNs, which seem to be the same PN for all V6 as far as I can tell.

So the Nissens one I originally linked to should get the job done :-\
