Plastic door bushes.
« on: 27 August 2024, 08:23:50 »

I'm getting low on the plastic door bushes, was thinking whether anyone ever found an alternative replacement, i.e Corsa,Vectra etc......getting fed up with the stealers blank looks when asking for anything, as it's computer says no for virtually everything now. >:(

Could such as those be 3d printed? Or would they not be durable enough?

A brass bushing might also achieve the same result  :-\

That would be a simple lathe job. But I'd want to know that the original parts are definitely not available before I made any.

Nick W, the man at VX he say''no'' and various searches haven't turned up anything so far. Possibly somewhere there may be a small amount of new old stock which may eventually surface, so in the meantime I guess it's watch and wait.

A whole skeleton for me please.  :y

I still have three original door bushes, after fitting one to the drivers door today.
Im planning on keeping the car for the foreseeable, so will keep my boxes of spares, as they are getting a bit rare now.

That says print in PETG, presumably for strength.  3D prints are weak in one plane, due to the way the layers are built and stuck together.

Rather than pay, there is a freebie STL on Thingiverse.  Maybe I should print one to see how it comes out....
