Car is/was driveable, until I did the pedal test, sort of blessing in disguise, as I was going to take it up North....and thinking 200+ miles up the M6 and back again without brake lights oooer! :o

good point from dg above . does it actually come out of park ? . we assume so cos you have never said car was undriveable or is the solenoid system somehow not in use ???
Is it an ex plod? If so they may have bypassed the shift solenoid and wired it into a since removed runlock.

.

Rotator cuff injury ugh ! Did mine about 4 years ago when we were in Cornwall lifting a water barrel so painful ,resorted to private physio in the end which helped immensely still get the odd twinge if I overdo it, all part of getting old I suppose .

Yeah, I've got arthritis in the same shoulder and neck.....it's a treat for anyone to witness me trying to get out from under a car....beached whale is a term commonly used, but getting under is aided by gravity which isn't so bad. Thinking of letting the three Omegas go, as I'm 76 next month and it's getting hard work, and I'm very drawn to the Kia Stinger to go Tesla hunting in ;)

Know the feeling very well , I changed the oil & filter in the Subaru about 18 months ago, when I eventually managed to get out from under it I swore that was the last time I'd get under any car. The Stinger seems a lot of car for a very reasonable price..👍

Im heading the same way, although Im not 65 until next month.
My head is still full of ideas about doing things to my cars but its getting harder to actually get out there and do them.
I made a determined effort to get under the Boxster to do a half hour job yesterday. It took over an hour and a half, and I felt like I had been hit by a train when I climbed back out.
Arthritis ( legs and back) and approaching old age are no fun.  :(

Got under the back of the Vectra to have a squint at my repaired exhaust back box, seems ok ish. Wasn't too bad on the way down, but at 79, it's a farkin long way back up.  ;D

Thanks for those comments, seems there's quite a few of us, but  feeling the need to get under a car when it comes back from an MOT, with the dreaded advancing corrosion advisory seems to trigger the need to get in there go nosing around....maybe I can get one of those nursing home style hoists, and get SWMBO to lower me up and down as and when ::) :y

I would love to have a workshop with a two or four post lift. Im sure that would prolong my spannering by a few years at least.
Its never going to be a possibility though unfortunately.

Sounds good.....under floor heating and A/C,  big screen TV, recliner, coffee and tea making, mini bar...not sure if there's anything missing  OK,  a minion or two to work on the cars, and then it's just another day in Paradise :)

Or a big house  with a small garage.
Convert the garage into a house and the house into a garage.  ;D
