Just for clarity, are you referring to the lever in the cabin?

There's some adjustment on the striker pin and also worth cleaning the latch itself.

On a cautionary note, remove the grill while you are adjusting things... It will give you valuable access in case the bonnet won't open. But as it's currently working, try cleaning and lubricanting the latch before adjusting anything ;)

And once lubed it will be  pretty likely the cable will also need adjusting on the slam panel under the bonnet. Two minute job.

thanks guys, the lever is fine i think, but it has so much "deadzone" (i pull gently and nothing happens), and when i pull to the limit, then the latch open the bonnet
i cleared the thing, its a lil bit better, i topped the oil just in case if something break or tear apart, and i try again tomorrow
thanks again (sry for broken english solutions)

This guide shows how to adjust it. Give it a good soak with penetrating oil before you start trying to undo or adjust anything and go gently!

Not saying this is the problem but I had the same issue when I fitted a non spec battery which was slightly higher.  Anything item higher than spec under the bonnet, or even just a left behind spanner, will lift the bonnet slightly, putting pressure on the catch making it very difficult to release, you end up having to pull the cabin lever to the extreme.

Had the same problem on my 99 Omega when doing a list of jobs to put the car back on the road last year. My mechanic says its a common problem on a number of vauxhalls.

THe spring that sits in the slam panel (it looks like a cylinder head valve spring) gets deformed in use. Bought a new one and when comparing them side by side, the deformation was not that great, but when changed the problem was cured.

When it first refused to open the bonnet I had to break the front grill to be able to access the release mechanism from underneath, but as we replaced the old plastic grill with stainless mesh, I'm happier with how it looks now. Apparently there is a non destructive way to release the bonnet latch which I saw either on this site or the ABS site after I'd broken into mine.

I also filled up the centre of the spring with LM grease and it has given no further problem, releasing the bonnet less than half way through the pull of the bonnet release cable handle.

Might not be the same problem with your car, but the symptoms were the same.

A wee get out of jail free tip if the lever won't open the bonnet - and you don't have an assistant to push down on the bonnet. Jam one of the keys in under one of the corners abover the light so it's holding the edge of the bonnet up then it should pop. Usually do this with my omega as it gets lazy when hot (the catch).
