Are all Omega variants fitted as standard with vented discs at the rear?

Don't know about the 2.6 the 3.2 has vented the 3.0 has solid rear discs-well my face-lift one does anyway

All my facelift 2.6's and 3.2's that I have owned have had vented rear discs.
They have all been Elites, but I have recently been removing parts from a 'Y' reg 2.6 CD in a local breakers which also had vented rear discs.

My problem is that, on a whim, I bought the whole Mintex disc/pad set on eBay. I checked with the catalogue here:

They sent me the MDK0041 set and, today, I decided to have them done. It turns out, though, that the existing discs are vented and the MDK0041 ones are solid, even though they are advertised for my 2.6. It turned out the existing pads and discs are OK and will probably last me out, so I left them on!

Thing is, I don't think I can really return the [opened] box (it only cost £61), as i should have checked the vented situation before purchase. Maybe I should contact the seller and try my luck. The alternative is to knock them out at least to get some money back – but who would have a 2.6 with solid discs??

I would kick them back. Speak to seller first and if no joy send them back via the eBay returns process.

They can be fitted to a previously vented car, but ONLY if you also fit non vented calipers. This might sound daft, but you can't get the correct vented calipers any more whereas non vented ones are a bit more readily available.

People have previously tried only to lose all their brake fluid as the pads wear down and the pistons move beyond the seals.

On the 3.2 and 2.6 the TC is connected to the ABS  as well as the engine ECU, making it a two step system... Step one cuts the fueling and step two applies abs to the spinning wheel.

Late facelift Opels had ESP fitted to the full fat diesel and 3.2 which applied the ABS to whichever wheel required it to keep the car under control.

The only reason vented rear discs were fitted was to improve disc heat resistance but it could be argued that unless the car is ragged within an inch of its life, the solid discs would cope just fine.

If you don't have any luck returning them I might be interested in giving them a home. Won't be for a little while yet, small matter of the missing spare wheel well among others, but don't just fling them!

Mintex brake part suppliers list rear brake fitting kits (pins and anti rattle springs) on Ebay as suitable for the 2.6 / 3.2, but they aren't - they are only suitable for solid discs.
Ebay have recently improved their returns policy - if it doesn't fit and especially if it is listed as being suitable for a particular model, then you should have no problems returning them through the Ebay returns process and getting a full refund. I recently bought an Omega handbrake cable on Ebay, and they sent the incorrect part. The seller accepted the part was incorrect, but wanted me to pay for return postage, so Ebay intervened and the company then arranged collection of item at their expense (which they should have done in the first place), and I got a full refund (although I did have to chase them for it). Some sellers customer service still falls a little short of what it should it would seem.
