Vauxhall Omega 2.5 V6 estate silver manual.
« on: 11 January 2025, 10:50:15 »

Vauxhall Omega 2.5 V6 CD estate manual, star silver 158k miles 9 months MOT registered March 2000.

A reluctant sale to make space, and I'm getting too old for crawling around under it now, so thought I'd post on here first to see if anyone's interested. Lots of work done over the years including new front suspension, 4 new Landsail tyres, lots of paperwork from my ownership and previous.

Asking price £750 (keeping to forum guidelines) - maybe optimistic but it's a start point for any offers.
Runs, drives and handles well, but for a 25 year old car there are a few things worth pointing out.
Drivers door check strap mutilated by a previous owner, so door always wants to close on its own.
Nearside wing mirror horizontal remote control not working (vertical control okay).
Air conditioning not working.
Heater only giving luke warm air.
Rear wheel arch rot stemmed and tidied up with internal anti-corrosion applied.
Some dinks and scratches as you might expect.
Anything else you want to know, please PM. Additional images available for anyone interested.

Know how you feel, I'm heading that way also, possibly this is the last year that I'll be mucking around with my three Omegas. The coming April VED hikes are the only thing that's  holding me back at the moment....but have already cancelled the tax on one car and the second one is imminent, as common sense is starting to kick in much to the relief of SWMBO. ::)

As my daughter was selling her Ford Kuga 2.0 tractor juice version which she has owned almost since new, with low mileage and is easy to get in and out of, it has been a practical decision to move on, rather than let my heart rule and struggle to keep the Omega (there's already another silver 2.5 on the driveway too). SWMBO is now happy to join me in a journey, whereas she would only go in the Omega if she really had to. I'll never have to buy another car again with a bit of luck.

It's certainly no fun getting rid of something I've rescued from the scrap heap (now on ebay with a bid), but I do struggle sometimes getting in and out, and it was no fun driving the other day with no heater. 10 years ago I'd have it sorted, but now it's a job for someone else..... at least I won't have to drive it to the scrapyard (as SWMBO suggested last week)!

The eye watering £345 at least road tax doesn't help the Omega - who knows what the future holds for them?

Isn't it only a one off initial payment on new cars, inc E/V's? Then back to normal  ;D yearly rates thereafter. Or, have i got that totally wrong?  :-[

To save guessing. Basically pre2017 are going up by a few quid.

The proper car is going from £690 ish to £720 ISH.

The Omega will be £360 iirc.

thanks
as usual thou with govenment sites its not  the most easy to understand. it lists mine as £415 but thats what i paid last year .  no mention as to any great massive increase from april or just the normal one that happens every year anyway (which i suppose wont be know yet)
did think it was for  newer cars as you said and as i have a few classics which are free anyway it balances out in the great scheme of things !

You might find that list is for 24/25.

25/26 are a separate item but the biggest changes are for relatively new vehicles.
