Think this is a job for the weekend. Just had a look at the selector switch wiring, had very limited access to look at wires, need to jack car up higher on axel stands.

Is the reverse light switch wire a 2 wire connection? I spotted this wire but cant see where it lead to, I dont know if its from the manual box or from the cars loom and would of fitted to the autobox.

Had a look at doing the Ignition timing retard wires, I found the black/red wire on pin 42 but didnt know which thin brown wire to connect to (theres quite a few also alot with another colour) and how.

Tried to find the clutch switch wiring to no avail. I couldnt feel it taped to the loom anywhere (might try using a mirror and a torch to see if I can spot it otherwise it looks like cruise is out of the window).

When I did the conversion I werent lookin forward to finishing off the wiring >:( >:( >:( and now I remember why lol ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for replying  :y, I dont know where the wiring needs to be done i.e under the car, under the gearshift surround.

When I converted mine, I took the selector switch of the auto box and left it attached to the loom so I can start it. Thats as much wiring as I did (Plus the break pedal switch).

Is there any chance of putting up some pics where the wiring needs to be done please? and labeling the wires also.

I need to get cruise and reverse lights working again.

Out of curiosity why does the Lambda sensors and Ignition Timing Retard wiring need doing?

Omega General Help / My keys need replacing?
« on: 25 July 2008, 16:51:58 »
Hi Guys, the locking button on my key will not work. After taking it apart, I found the weld to be cracked. The door unlock and boot open buttons both work.
Could I replace the fob with a new one, use the current blade and chip part with a new fob without having to get it recoded?. The other key fob has broken welds on the battery holder so it will not work at all. Ideally I could do with two new fobs.

Many Thanks

Jim

Omega General Help / Re: Autobox to manual - conversion
« on: 05 April 2008, 10:03:27 »
When I converted mine, I had a donor car. The parts from which I took were:

Gearbox
Flywheel
Prop shaft
Pedalbox
Clutch Master cylinder
Master cylinder to gearbox pipe (Both halves)

I left the gear stick and gearbox cradle bracket still attached to the gearbox when it was removed for ease of fitment.

Also when you park up the car to be converted, put the car into Park. The selector switch needs so removed from the autobox but still attached to the wiring loom otherwise the car will not start. If the car will still not start, turn the plastic peg on inside the selector switch where it joins the autobox all the way as far as it will go and try to start  the car, if it does'nt, the turn the peg fully the other way. Basically what your doing is putting the selector switch into park.

Omega General Help / Re: MV6 Running Rough On Cold Start Up
« on: 16 May 2007, 19:29:03 »
Had a tinker yeseterday after work and fired her up this mornrin and she runs perfect  :y. Just sprayed a little maintenance spray into the IACV.

She was running perfect before this, what started it was I were twidling thumbs on saturday so decided to have a tinker. Started of by polishing that bottle looking thing with a pipe in either end (something to do with aircon???) got that nice and shinney then decided to do the IACV, so I thought While its out i'll give it a clean out too.

Since cleaning it out Ive noticed today she seems a tad quicker, placebo effect lurks round the back of my mind but I reckon she is quicker.

Thanks guys for the replies,

Jim

Hey all, I cleaned out the ICV (if thats what the thing that sticks out the side of the plenum chamber???) with some carb cleaner and squirted a little in to the pipes too.

I think some carb cleaner travelled down the pipe to back of the engine and got in where ever it connects to????

When I now start the car from cold, its idling around 400rpm and may need a little throttle to help get it started too. once the engine is warmed up it idles fine at around 600 rpm.

I dont know what to do next  :-[ :-[ so any help would be thankfully received ,

Have i done something spectacularly stoopid? should i punish myself by watchin the emmerdale farm omnibus on sunday?

yours hopefully

Jim

P.S Sorry for stealing the above pic, admin please delete if nessasary

Omega General Help / Greasing Rear Sunblind?
« on: 28 April 2007, 19:39:13 »
I fitted the rear sunblind t'other week and it seems it could do with a little greasing as when it rolls down, it kind of shudders and also the drivers side comes down first. Its not a smooth operation at all when it does go down, so I were just wondering what to lubricate it with????

TIA

Jim
