Tyres
« on: 18 December 2014, 19:14:17 »

At the end of Oct 2014 I had Phaeton serviced (main dealer) and front tyre tread reported ok at 3mm. Just took it for mot today and it has done 1500 miles since service.

One tyre now condemned as down to cord on inner edge. Not happy. Now 2 tyres to be fitted and alignment check. Clearly not taking tyres seriously at service and must have been running around with illegal tyre for months. Was also checked by same garage in May.

Tyre looks great over main areas of tread.

That must give you 18 months from a nearly new car, must be time to change again soon... although four tyres would probably be cheaper ;D

You might as well, esp. if it's already in for something else. At 3mm you've only got 1.4 left before they're illegal.

If all the wear has been on the inner shoulder due to an alignment issue, I reckon it can easily have gone from perfectly OK to illegal in 1500 miles. Sounds like it needs the WIM treatment. ;)

The dealer was asking if I had hit a deep pot hole or something as he had the same view. Cannot recall anything. Anyhow alignment being done and tyres changed tomorrow. Will just spend less on Christmas presents.
