Xbox One Steering Wheel
« on: 08 January 2015, 22:42:36 »

I am after a decent wheel for Forsa 5 - the new xbox one release from Microsoft is £400 so forget that.

I am not a gamer - it is really for a bit of family fun but reports on the Argos type wheels are patchy.

Any ideas for something sub £100 please? are they wireless?

I have never bought a wheel for games before.

That is a Thrustmaster sterring wheel, they are usually very good. At the below £100 budget you will not get any force feedback.

But it should be good fun and they are a reliable maker of gaming wheels.

Logitech kit always works for me.
My eldest has the G27 and the only real problem we had was with the pedals moving when the gameplay got a bit frantic, easily fixed by creating a small wooden jig that wedges up against the wall.
The only drawback is that it cost double what you want to spend (£200).

PS
Connection is via USB so it works both on the Xbox and the PC.

Thanks to all. I have just ordered the Thrustmaster Ferrari 458. Tesco deal no longer available.

Thrustmaster installed easily - very happy so far but as a novice not sure where paddle gears come in when gear changes take place from speed of car using pedals - so it is like driving automatic.

Are paddle gears for higher levels of competence. I have not changed any settings

The "flappy paddles" merely negate the need for you to take at least one hand off the wheel when changing gear which makes the gear change that little bit quicker, you need to alter the controller configuration within the game itself to make the paddle's change gear rather than the stick (or indeed move it from auto to manual gear changes).

You have to go into settings and either increase the difficulty level or change the auto shift option to manual shift. If you are enjoying Forza 5, I would highly recommend Forza Horizon 2.
