Aerial replacement F/L estate
« on: 29 November 2012, 17:58:30 »

Hi peeps,
Will shortly be fitting a tailgate spoiler to my F/L CDX estate, and wondered if anyone could give advise on a replacement aerial which will not interfere with the spoiler on opening the tailgate?  Dont like the standard fit knuckle arrangement, rather fancied the shark fin aerials, until oof member pete purchased one from ebay and said to quote "may as well have purchased a metal coat hanger"  any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
                           John.

TBH, my view is on the MV6 Eatate I had was it was really no big deal with the tailgate spoiler touching the standard aerial fitment, after years of use there was no evidence of marks or wear on the spoiler or on the twig.

There is a "mod" in the form of a ball with a small threaded insert

Designed and made/marketed by Prodrive (the spoiler maker) which allows the aerial mast to locate vertical

Ive found this to work a treat at avioding mast and spoiler contact :y :y :y

I bought one of these of prodrive on ebay. You could email him see if he has anymore.

Many thanks for your replies guys, tryed your link Pauls but no longer availalbe, dont really fancy the small threaded insert option as I think they look unsightly, must be an alternative, will keep looking around and let you know of my findings. Thanks again guys.

Think you could have some thing wrong as Prodrive are a firm of body part specialists

This mod is ideal and produced by them to update the estate aerial to their spoiler

Short of moveing the Aerial forward or changeing the design nothing else you can do

If you wish I'll be happy to fish out the address/details on my old invoice for you

This something I've got to do as the inside of mine corroded,at the moment I've found an old mfl saloon phone aerial, which clears the spoiler and looks ok just got to get some coax fitted and see if it works as the one that came off is the ampped phone/satnavy one.
. If it dosnt work be looking for a replacment.

I tried a shark fin on my estate with no luck. wanted that updated look. I have an Irmsher adapter but it does rub the spoiler a bit.

If you have the old connectors (FME) than you could use a Astra aerial.

If you have the new connectors (Fakra) you could use the Vectra C Estate aerial (ident HA)

The Vectra C Estate does not have a radio amplifier in the base, so you could have some less reception on the radio.

First you have to find the right one.
Second yes they are, about £200 - £250.

Sorted :)

Purchaced from flea bay ajustable bee sting, little tacky but has done the job. only just clears the spoiler by 5mm, gave it several cotes of lacquer to stop it rusting . Many thanks for your help guys. :)
