Title: Amber indicator bulbs
Post by: grifter on 01 May 2022, 15:12:49
Hi

Needing to replace the rear indicator bulbs as they're almost clear of the amber coating, is it just a standard amber indicator bulb I need, any specific code for them?

Thanks

G

just a standard bau15s amber indicator bulb.(offset pins)i have found however that different makes seem to have a differing level of amber coating. ie some are more orange than others !

Thanks, that's just the luck of the draw isn't it, how good a coating you get, hopefully they're better than the ones I got at the moment.

yellow or white is only really a problem at MOT time & I can't see most testers failing you .... just give advisory.

I've a box of amber bulbs in my garage ..... Ring IIRC

The orange ones in my astra have been in there at least 8 years, so I don't think I'd save much money buying clear ones and a can of paint  ;D

I re coat the old bulbs if required (my MOT tester is strict) and have plenty of spares from cars i've scrapped
the only bulbs I have to buy are HID ,LED ££ :o

But then you have to buy the Clear Coat, the Wet and Dry, the Lacquer, Rubbing Down Compound, Paint Wipes, T Cut, Polish, Buffing Machine, and on and on, its just endless.

Now changed, and I'll rub off the remaining amber flakes on the old bulbs and keep those as spares, how's that for penny pinching!
