Each to their own, but I don't really rate these auto dimming mirrors. I had one in my Omega & had a bit of tape over the front light sensor to keep it permanently dimmer and though my Merc's driver's door mirror matches the interior mirror & also auto dims I prefer the old style manual dim ..... I leave both Smarts' mirrors in dim all the time

I'm tempted to fit the spare dipping mirror I had for the Omega, to the Metro. I've got to run power for the dashcam, so adding the mirror will just need the windscreen mount.

Squeak said the mouse ;D

Worst case you can plumb it in using Haynes diagrams and power from the sunroof feed... Plug and play is easier ;)

Even my old GLS had the loom fitted ;)

I've never seen the loom in a non-Elite.  It is present in Elites that have the Sports Seat option (and thus lose the memory seats and autodip mirror)

From memory...

Red +12v fused permanent. Behind cabin fuse box. Use handbook/Haynes to identify correct fuse.
Black +12v fused ignition. Behind cabin fuse box. Use handbook/Haynes to identify correct fuse.
Brown 0v passenger footwell.
GreyYellow dash switch illumination. Connect to sunroof supply.
BlueRed Speed signal. Connect to sunroof supply.

Rest is memory related  ;)

Auto dimming mirror is basically plug and play :y

Especially if you buy one that has the correct plug... Change over is around '51 :y
thanks mate mine is a 2000 model so anything before then should be ok
Vectra C one won't fit... Plug is completely different. You need a non rain sensor Omega one.

However...

You say yours is a 2000 car... Is the front grill on the bonnet and are the window switches on the front doors?

If yes, then you'll probably find the plug tucked up behind the interior light... If it's an earlier non facelift car, you might be less fortunate  :-\

Still not convinced that you haven't found the plug...

The 12v, courtesy light 12v, 0v are all available at the courtesy light.  The reverse signal is white/black in passenger kick panel.

Forgot about that one ;)

I only mentioned the fuse box in case it was wanted to wire it in 'factory'  :)
