Omega General Help / Re: Question about cabin filter
« on: 20 January 2024, 13:22:40 »
Mine tend not to support themselves in the frame whilst changing them - a finger is needed to hold them on situ whilst fastening the clips. And that is genuine GM charcoal filters.... can't say about other makes, as I've only ever fitted genuine GM.

I've the exact same issues in every respect with one of mine. I've done everything mentioned here, but it's not resolved it, so anything that actually sorts it will be greatly appreciated... :y

Omega General Help / Re: cambelt 3.2 elite gates

That's correct. I have bought a couple of GM tensioner blocks relatively recently that were listed for the V6 Saab, which are a different GM part number as a kit, but an identical tensioner block for the later 2.6 / 3.2 in every respects.
The last kit fitted on my 3.2 was built up of separately bought items - ie tensioner block, belt and lower idler, all genuine GM. Buying complete kits these days is rather expensive.

A good few years ago, I was on the M6, in lane 3 overtaking a line of vehicles in lane 2, when a dark coloured Range Rover approached me behind, and as it got nearer, blue lights illuminated, so I naturally 'squeezed' in between the vehicles I was passing to allow the Range Rover to pass, thinking it was an unmarked Police or emergency services vehicle, which it did at speed. I did notice it was a top spec model, not the more basic version commonly used by the Police. It was also on a private reg, which was a bit suss and the main reason I decided to report it. The Police operator confirmed that it wasn't a Police Vehicle. Several miles down the M6, it had been stopped, and later feedback from the Officer dealing was that it was a 'Joe Public' driver who had fitted the blue lights himself - I can only presume to possibly assist him through conjested areas of traffic...he ended up in Court, but unfortunately, I don't know the result. What a plonker....but the other implications of any possible intended actions could be quite serious.

I always used to volunteer to work as many Public Holidays as I could, if not rostered to work them. Double pay helped a lot with a young family. I was also able to pop home on Christmas Day - if on earlies when the kids opened their presents, or if on lates, then I could come home for Christmas dinner with them. However, if on nights, I didn't get a lot of sleep!
But then again, I used to enjoy my job anyway irrespective of what shifts were thrown at me throughout the year......

It is also dependent on the accuracy / consistancy of the detail submitted to the DVLA by dealerships on 1st registration. It's more so of an issue with older vehicles when handwritten details were submitted to the DVLA prior to everything currently available on line.
