General Discussion Area / Can't. Post
« on: 01 December 2016, 13:40:20 »

I need some help on this one.

Firstly, I can read all posts on the forum from any device through my cable internet connection, the same connection via WiFi or on 3G.

I can't post anything at all to the forum via my PC.

I can start a new thread on SWMBO's android smartphone via my cable connection using WiFi but I can't update the thread or reply to any other thread.

All posting works fine on the smartphone when using 3G.

My last post was on 06 October from my PC.

The PC is running Zorin9 which is a version of Ubuntu 14.04 and has been for the last two years. I have tried posting using Firefox 50.0 and
Chromium Version 53.0.2785.143

Any replies from me may be delayed until SWMBO stops using her phone!

Thanks.

Resurrecting an old thread, thinking about the top pin, there is a flat plastic cap on the top.

Does this have to be removed before hammering the pin down?

Thanks.

General Discussion Area / Re: Broken Lawnmower.

i've never had good long term results with aluminium and epoxy no matter how clean i got the surfaces.  solder would be better - clamp them gently together, heat them up and feed solder into the cracks so it melts and seeps in.

Would that be plumbers solder, and would a blowlamp be sufficient for heating?

The pulley wheel on my qualcast mower has broken. As the part is obsolete I was wondering if it would be possible to bond the two parts back together.

I was thinking of using Araldite or somthing like JB Weld.

It appears to be made of cast aluminium or something like.

Any advice would be most welcome.

It will also fit inside the car between the front and rear seats.  :y

Good to know but then I would have to put SWMBO in the boot.  :D ::)

Isnt she allowed to sit in the front passenger seat then ?  ???

Thats where the dogs would be.  :D :D :D ;D

Can anyone tell me if a Omega saloon rear door will fit in an Omega saloon boot?

If so, is that with rear seats up or down?

Thanks.

N/S indicator working fine until I put my foot on the brake. then the indicator slows down and I get a brake light warning on the display.

Is this likely to be a wiring fault, or could it be a fault in the tail light unit itself?

Thanks.

Only a guesstimate and not maybe all strictly MOT, but all necessary jobs and associated costs.

MOT failures.

4 Tyres @ £100                                          £400
Uneven wear suggests full geo setup required         £100
Steering Idler
Rear subframe bushes
Front to rear brake pipes
S/H tail light                        £100 (optimistic?)

Other Jobs

Cambelt now at 5 years                  £100
Cam covers leaking – new gaskets               £100

Will take me some time to get these jobs done.
So two weeks car hire    (maybe more)                 £250
