What’s this wire/sensor I’ve broken?
« on: 17 December 2021, 14:30:13 »

Doh I’ve just managed to break this wire and need help to identify what it is pls

I cant seem to add a pic but looking in-front of the car on the timing cover you have the plastic wire carrier, on the left hand side above the aux pulley the connector is there and looks like is goes near the alternator X25XE engine.

If you look on eBay item number 384477700791 picture 1, you’ll see that I mean thanks all

Not really, I know pretty well what a V6 looks like, but struggling with your initial description.

If its the wire from the cable tray over the top of the cambelt cover on the left in that pic, then thats the knock sensor for bank 1/3/5

Wouldn't the EML or the spanner light come on if one or both knock sensors get disconnected? Fault code 16 on a 2.5/3.0 V6.

Yup :y

For clarity, the only other thing on that side of the block that might be in that particular loom is the oil level sensor (if fitted) and the connection point on that is a plug at the sensor rather than a length of wire.

The EML illuminating or not is largely dependent on the bulb being present and working...

Not until its under load, above about 1600-1800 rpm, and only after you have discovered it runs like a sack of shite.  Certainly in my experience, anyway.
