Auto dimming Rear View Mirror fitting.
« on: 13 July 2006, 09:34:15 »

I have had one sat in my boot for a while now just never got round to fitting it.

Can anyone help with which wire goes where. So far I have put on the mount to make sure thats ok it just needs to be wired in.

I plan to use connectors on cut wires so if I want to keep it I can just remove and use on my next car.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Will put something in the technical guides section in the next couple of days as I am currently doing the same job on my Estate.

It requries at least 3 wires connecting (all available from the courtesy light) plus the fourth is optional (to the reverse lights, drivers foot well)

Cheers mark DTM

I will keep a watch out for that.

Will you be connecting yours up to the reverse lights.

Is this the recommended or is it not essential.

If connected properly it will turn off the self dimming function when reverse is selected! ;D

I will wire that in to as its useful.

for info, the wires to connect are:

brown to earth
black to ignition feed (available on interior light)
white/black to reversing light wire (found in the drivers footwelll - same colour)
grey/black to the interior light grey wire.

I will post the pin numbers as well along with a picture of the connector as at least one of the above mentioned colours is duplicated.

I added one, but just wired up Ign. and 0v.  A really nice retro-fit.  And it works well too.

This is an interesting thread....

I was going to add this gadget to my meega, but thought as there wasnt a wiring loom about when i took the orig mirror off, i wouldnt be able to...

Didnt realise the feeds just came off the interior light and reverse light feed

I will keep my eye on this thread  :)

Look forward to reading your guide, looking at the piece of loom I have it has two grey/black cables.
