Reckon we had a bailiff down my road this morning, ironic as I watched an episode on Sky+ last night. Woke one of my neighbours at about 7.45.
Few years ago I had a knock on the door, and there were two heavies.
To cut a long story short, an African woman bought a Merc on finance and put my Mrs down as Guarantor. The Mrs is a director of my company and by law this must be public information, so not hard to find full name, date of birth, and home address. The African "lady" did of course default on payments soon after taking the loan, and did a runner.
It all wasn't a huge problem, the "Heavies" were ok, and pretty soon realized what had happened. No Merc in the drive, just an old Volvo and an Old Omega! However I still object strongly to laws that permit so much personal information to be freelly available on the internet to absolutely anyone, but I do understand why. There just needs to be a better solution.
