LPG install
« on: 30 August 2006, 20:22:07 »

I have been asked for pic's of the installation, It is on the other site, but will put it on here as well for the newer members

Single point LPG, from back to front, pictures for reference.

Filling point

Tank arrangement

vent shroud over filling pipe

LPG live solonoid lives under the scuttle

Vapouriser position

valve between vapouriser and inlet, volume control valve( not sure where the control comes from for this valve)

inlet ports

CPU postion

Control switch position, facelift TC switch fitted in new position

info added by Vectrolosys
"If it's like other Leonardo systems I have seen, the control for that valve is taken from one of the lambda probes"

Hope this is of use to someone  :)

On the same quarter as the petrol filler is the most popular place I hink,

Also fitted to the towbar and lower down on the same side as mine, so the it is less obvious.

Does any drilling, or any electronic setup have to be done for this older single point system on the V6? Where does the LPG go into the engine??

Yep, get those pics up.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Besides, it won't do your post count any harm either.  ;)

Very interesting and nice pics!

One thing I found interesting is your moving and changing the TC switch.  How did you go about this? This is a mod I want to do on my car.

If only I was brave enough to do a conversion!

This install was done before i bought the car, I will check out the TC switch wiring when I change the seats as I may be changing the carpet and centre console at the same time.

Will put pics up then

shame as it would have served as a good reference!! have you any old pics i could have of the install?

can you remember or maybe you know where the wiring goes to pick up all the signals for the leonardo controller?

i'm thinking of putting the lpg kit on from my dead rangerover v8, any do's and donts? really any info would be good, did you have backfires and did it damage anything when it did?

any info you can give will be a great help in ironing out potential problems!!

cheers

forgot to add, i'm confident of the mechanical side of installation up to the end of the vapouriser, after that i was thinking of aquiring two of them blos carbs, they look good and seem ok in principal. i'm not too sure of the electrikery, i would hope to link in rather than chop wires where ever possible so the kit can be removed if i screw up or change to another or indeed go out on another whim! lol!

and also where is the best place to install the vap, i want it to be accesible obviously but below the water line so as not to cause air locks!

and finally, the car is in daily use, i would prefer to keep on using it and do the installation over a weekend, is this a tall order? the only part that i can see as bieng th'crux' is the elec. so it may take 2 w/ends??
