Omega removal van
« on: 25 September 2006, 13:08:10 »

My eldest son and his flat mate moved out of their flat to new accomodation at the weekend and a mate who was supposed to lend us his van didn't turn up (he did eventually....at 5.30pm!!). So I says, lets use two estate cars - my miggie and his flatmates Astra. Had to do a few trips (luckily the new place was in the same town) but what a great load lugger the Omega is :) Managed to shift near enough everything - double beds large chairs ete. etc.

Always new they had bucket loads of space as we cart all of our disco equipment around in it every weekend - sound system, lighting, records, CD's - the whole lot. Before I had the miggie I used to have to use my smaller estate car plus another car.

Trouble is, there are very few estates that are capable of such a large capacity and as Omega's are now no longer made, what next?

........another Omega of course!! :)

I've seen a few E class Merc estates about which look pretty big, but I don't think there's much else out there.

Do they have the Dodge Magnum over here?  300C Estate.  If you want big, go american  :D

Maybe VX should get their ar*es in gear and build a Monaro estate - how cool would that be? 8-)

Isn't the V6 a Mercedes 3 valve?  Do they even do a V6, or is it only V8's?

Surprisingly the Volvo is nowhere near as big as the meega. I have one of each sitting on my drive ( albeit an earlier 850 version ) The boot is only 2/3rds the size. Think the only Volvo that comes close is the V90 which like the meega is no longer made. Toooooooooo many people carriers around nowadays and not enough proper cars :(

I've had a lot of estates, mondeo, laguna, Pug406, xantia, mazda 626, Renault 21 savanah, Volvo850. The meega is by far the best load lugger ;)
