The fact they have even sought the implant means that the chances of them maintaining a healthy (i.e. checked regularly) mature and at least semi-responsible approach to their journey on to adult hood. It's not a parental authority issue and there has been some data to suggest that given the alternative - kids risk it and end up with all matter of "closed minds" or even worse.. pregnant. Even students these days are so much more responsible than they were and that can only be a good thing. Plus the world needs a dammn sight less people - especially people who add a generation purely out of the awkwardness of speaking to parents about something so minor!

otherwise... children will be children and easily persuaded or give in to peer pressure or just "try it'' i remember what it was like when i was at school, alot of people had already had sex by the time they were in the last year of comprehensive, i even know quite a few people that were at it at the age of 13... thats not myself, i waited till the ripe old age of 18 lmao!

Because you can do something it doesn't me you should do something, but unfortunately, media pressure, peer pressure, hormones, younger puberty ages and children's natural instinct to experiment as that how they gain experience in life, means that under age sex and pregnancy is not going to go away any time soon.

If her parents are approachable and had discussed this situation along the lines of: We would rather you waited until you are over 16, but if you must then we would prefer that you use contraception so you don't get pregnant, would the child then feel they could confide in their parents?

Don't forget there are many religious families in this country, where the parents consider sex before marriage a sin, or much worse than this in some communities, so do you protect the child by not telling the parents?
