Misfire
« on: 11 August 2010, 12:24:00 »

Hi all!
problems regarding '03' 2.2 estate.
constant misfire started about a day or so ago.
not very into mechanics, so could it be:
Plugs, plug covers, coil or what?
plug rubbers do look a bit tired, but thats all I can see!!
Any help greatly received.

Ed. :-/

Would always start with the spark plugs. Easy enough to do./ then you will see if you have oil in plug wells and also how bad the leads really are, then post up and go from there.

If the plug rubbers look tired then they probably are mate TBH :-/
Have you actually removed the coil pack to physically check? I believe the rubbers are replaceable but can't say for definate :-[
To check for spark earthing you could leave the ecotec cover off & wait 'till it's dark, then fire the engine up & have a look down the plug apertures. Any stray sparking should be obvious & show you which plug caps are fubar? Please be careful leaning into the engine bay in poor light! ::) :y
