Post by: pauls on 12 August 2017, 14:18:59
Any gamers on here. Just been to butlins with the family and my 9 year old who is mad about jurrasic park found a jurassic park shooting arcade game. I spent a bloody fortune on it. My question is. Is they a console first shooter game out they that he will get as much fun out of it. I have seen the lego one but he doesnt like that one. As its his birthday soon i thought i would try and find him something the same. Any help would be a help as i havnt a clue.

Does he have any consoles or a gaming PC already as that will influence your available options.

Sony have done a Gun controller for their VR headsets. Works with several games including Farpoint, which sounds like it may be up his alley when he gets a bit older.

In the meantime, PS3 + Timecrisis + gun = hours of entertainment!

I am still trying to get used to my Playstation 4!

My 6 year old grandson though has no problems racing around in a super charged V8 Merc police patrol car at 155 mph+!! :D :D ;)

I just keep on crashing! :P :P

The problem is, they dont make shoot em ups like that anymore,

Think of virtua cop and time crisis, they would be perfect with automatic movement all you play has to do is squeeze the tigger

I have a game on the WII called ghost squad, its a clone of virtua cop but its also made sega so it sort of works.

I would bother with a PC, they are never ending money pits and youll always want it to be better than the ps4/xb1 and anyone elses pc.

I can only suggest going to a game store and demo'ing the consoles

I let my boys play on the ps3, megadrive and the amiga and they love them

I can do if you want, but it depends on what games you are thinking of as some games are harder on the system than others and usually the most demanding games are the best looking visually and offer picture quality that consoles can`t match.

But be warned as games get more demanding then the graphics card will need upgrading to cope with the new games  :y

If you want a pc that plays the best of the games on offer, you'll have to fork out for a dedicated gaming pc. They are not cheap.

And if you want to play over wifi, you'd better make sure that's up to speed as well.

That is an enthusiasts card though  ;)

Not necessarily, it`s the response time that is important not outright speed, Virgin Media is generally the fastest you can get but is regarded the worst for gaming  :y

It may be, but it will be the most future proof purchase

I would stick to consoles at this time, especially for a 9 year old

If only I could attach a mouse & keyboard so I can properly circle-strafe on a console..

The thumb sticks do an ok job

I had a mouse on the ps1 to play redalert and retaliation, not as fast as the pc version

I had a mouse and keyboard on the dreamcast because you could browse the web and play chuchu rocket.
