I had an 8v 2.0 Mk2 - lovely engine, abysmal chassis

But my previous Mk2 1.8 Belmont was faster (on its original engine until it let go rather spectucularly).

Chopped the GTE in for a Rover 216GSi (every bit as quick as the GTE in real world, only turned and stopped better) when the insurance went up to £3k
