Introduce your Omega in separate section, I'm curious to see what's under the bonnet.
That estate looks great too..

Great job in saving one, they are becoming rare.  :y
I was always wandering how is to drive with those studded snow tyres.
Btw I believe that offset (ET) on those last wheels is incorrect for Omega, they look a bit sucked in, maybe you should consider some spacers.

Omega General Help / Re: 2.5 DTI running rough
« on: 12 January 2024, 10:37:13 »
If injectors are bad you would experience black smoke while accelerating ( M57 runs fine even with 2 or 3 bad injectors)
There is tutorial on YT how to check them, if you don't want to take it to the specialist.
If your Omega has rough idle, you could start buy disconnecting one by one, and see if there is any difference.
My money would be on a Turbo, or something around it (check for oil in intercooler, hoses, clamps,)... White/grey smoke usually mean oil in compression chamber.
Another possibility is that high pressure fuel pump on it's way out, which I doubt. Check for diesel in oil pan.

Also, there are two types of rain sensors, for UV and non UV windscreen ( which I learned the hard way)

On it's way from Adriatic sea old ladies radiator decided to crack  >:(

Since I haven't manage to find new one, I decided to by used one, it just happens it came with the rest of the car attached at the back of it

2.5 DTI manuial, full leather, no faults, no smoke (surprisingly)  ac works, rust on usual places. I'm almost feeling sorry for turning her into organ donor..

I came to a conclusion that ZF-s are 5 speed. Is there a 4 speed version cause this one has 4 speed auto box?

Old lady passed MOT with no surprises.
I recently changed oil separator filter and cabin AC filter, oil and oil filter is next to come.
I gave her to my father, I'll keep maintaining her and probably use her for long distance travels
Funny moment was at the MOT center, two new Mercedeses, nice 530D and Korean electric SUV, and Omega got the most attention from MOT people. One of them said he didn't see one for years, especially in good condition  :)
Now I am considering rescuing this one

2.5 TDS (M51) auto. alledged 135 000km on the clock. I'm waiting for detailed rust pictures, owner claims there isn't any  :D
There are two faults, crank sensor and problem with gearbox, which sometimes don't start in D, just in 2, with no faults reported. I'm open to suggestions where to start, I'm not sure but it should be 4 speed AR25 unit..

Great result  :y
So, I definitely need purple ws if I want that stupid sensor to work properly  :-\

14
I didn't know that. 12 Omegas changed and still learning  ;D
If insurance is paying I would definitely go for UV reflecting one. I like how it looks and it's the factory fitted on your car.  It is more expensive therefore the shop mounted cheaper one...

When I was changing mine only one shop wanted to bother with ordering one, and even they couldn't say how long would I have to wait for it ( it was at least 45 days as I remember and I had an MOT coming) so I had to take what they have in stock....
Also, I tried switch on ''auto'' position with disconnected sensor, and then nothing happened ( wipers didn't move at all), so my guess is that sensor is ok, but it doesn't work with replacement windshield imported from who knows where...
I don't believe GM made different sensors for uv/non uv windshield so maybe Tech 2 could help...
