Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Re: Garage/lock up clear out.

Just a point of interest, as I no longer have a TD, but the GM OE water pump had a chocolate plastic impeller, a known failure issue. I replaced mine early with a metal impeller pump. :y

I'll have a quick look and make a note as to which impellor this has, thank you.

OK I will put a price on everything with a note that it's open to offers.
I have a few small items for sale that might be of interest and normally would link pics from photobucket, however I have not and will not upgrade and pay for what was a free service.

Can we still link to an album?
Would I be better off just listing the items?

I know a picture paints a thousand word and all that but.......

So here is a list:-
Bare front doors in blue, don't know the code sorry, good-ish condition with no rust, also have the two handles minus the locks £30

1 x brand new water pump for a 2.5 TD, never fitted. £35

1 x rear lamp cluster for pre face lift estate £5

1 x brand new HBV again never fitted£10

1 x rear load cover for pre face lift estate, fair condition, no rips or tears.£10

1 x document folder in good condition including the following pamphlets Front seat comfort, Audio manual and inspection system £5

6 x injectors for 2.5 TD, taken from working engine. £30

2 x standard door mirrors in black £20

1 x front tow eye cover in black £10

2 x standard orange side repeaters £5

2 x front wishbones, brand new still in bags, think they are Lemforder £40

Front door check strap reinforcing plates plus 8 hinge plastic washers £10

1 x climate control indicator and control unit, pre face lift. £15

As well as the above I have a complete dismantled 2.5 TD engine. I'm going to say the head and block are no good to man or beast by now, but the ancillaries should be good for spares, For example
Exhaust manifold c/w turbo £30
Inlet manifold £20
Air con pump £20
Alternator £15

I have no idea if any of the prices are valid all I will say is I am open to offers and generally first decent offer will take it.

Postage may be a problem for some of the heavier items but pretty positive you could arrange a courier pick up, that way you control the cost of the carriage.

I am hoping to get rid of all that lot so I can hand back the lock up, a cost I can no longer afford.

If I have made any errors in this post admin, please allow me to correct.

Thank you for reading

Regards
Jon

Hope this satisfies admins.

It's been a while but I wanted to report back and answer some of the posts.
The thermostat housing is one of those plastic jobs all incorporated so no option for fitting a T piece.

However, I was pointed to this http://www.gearbest.com/obd-diagnostic-tools/pp_216817.html?wid=21

Now fitted and worked straight out the box. Good thing is the diagnostic port is up under the dash on the drivers side, nice and easy to route the cable.
Well impressed and a nice inexpensive addition for any newer cars without a temp gauge.

Jon

No need to cut any hoses or find a route through the bulkhead for wires.

Happy New Year everybody!

I have now dismantled the above mentioned engine, the block with sump is still attached to the stand.

One item that is not in the pics is an almost brand new Witter Tow bar, this was fitted in April 2016

As you may know I am not a resident of these hallowed Isles so unless I can get my son to package up and send things then most will have to be collection (either in person or through the forum courier service)

The head has a first refusal on it at the the moment.
The only thing I think I can put a price on is the tow bar, £350 fitted brand new I would be looking for £150 or very near offer, the rest I am open to offers.

Yes I have, not a very chatty bunch..... unless you happen to own a Mivec/Ralliart fast thing, one whiff of oil burner and it goes very silent.
Most of the links to manuals end up dead or in Russia with ladies!

Nice try but only got google ads all the time wanting me to download PDF merge software.

I thought about the interference, so it looks like
i'll be cutting a top hose tomorrow!

Much appreciated.

I have this almost complete on a stand in a garage up in Scotland. Since the demise of the car this is now surplus to requirements.
My intention over the Xmas hols is to get spannering and strip it.
I know not the condition of the block but would presume the head would need some work.
I'll take some pics some time after the 21st so you guys can see what is there.

Just gauging if there might be interest on parts?

Cheers

Afternoon everybody.

I had to buy a small cheap runaround for out here, found a nice Mitsubishi Colt with the 1.5 3 pot merc diesel. Only problem is there is no temp gauge. I find that I do need to know what the engine is doing temp wise especially on the fairly steep climbs around me.
Now it has a CTS plugged into the thermostat housing, I was wondering if I could utilise the wiring from that for a stand alone digital temp gauge, pod mounted on the dash somewhere?
If I piggy backed the wiring would that, could that affect the signal to the ECU and throw some funnies into the fuelling?

I do have on of those inline units I can fit to the top rad hose but it is quite a distance from the awkwardly placed thermostat housing, ideally these should be placed as close to the engine as possible, yes?

Can someone with electrickery knowledge help me out here and point me in the right direction.

I should add there is a warning light in the dash console which tells you when the temp is too high, as yet I have not found the location of that and don't know whether it is an oil temp warning or a coolant temp warning, manuals for these are really hard to come by, plus the Mitsubishi dealers nearby don't have a word of english and my Spanish is woefully inadequate!

Cheers
Jon

sorry for late reply, been busy making sure the old carlton was ready for the trip
back to Scotland!
Been offered £495 and with my £400 excess.........
Not accepting first offer though, got to negotiate a bit I think.
I really don't have the time to post up for parts or indeed if anyone wants/needs it for spares
Hopefully a phone call tomorrow will result in a better offer and I will just have to take that. Pleased to report the Carlton made it back in fine style, if a bit expensive on fuel!
She will now stay in Scotland, probably to get sold on sometime soon in the future.
Still no plans to replace the Omega, really can't justify having a car over here any more.
If anyone has an idea for the Omega, I will get some details as to ecactly where it is being kept.

Was just wondering if anyone has any idea as to how meny pre face lift 2.5 omega estates are still on the road.

Had 3 comments as to how rare my 1999 omega is and it got me thinking.
Well, there's one less now! :'(

Yeah, I can see that now, although a rare thing being manual, that doesn't count.
Problem with keeping it to break is, no premises, no time so it will go to scrappy in Fife, Glenrothes I think, as it is with no toys taken off.
It was time to reduce the combined Scottish/Spanish fleet anyway!

Just been told Omega has had an off!
I wasn't driving by the way and all involved are OK.
Wet roads and bad camber, swift sideways excursion taking a road sign out on the way.
I have been sent some pictures and will upload them later on. (tomorrow)
In this case I fear it will be written off due to extensive front end damage, plus the rust was taking a firm grip on the back end as some will know.
Anyone got any idea of current market value for a 97 Pre facelift Elite 2.5TD estate?
Probably more than I could get as a sale anyway.
We'll see.

You can get a replacement base rubber, problem is they are a VW item, not expensive and do fit nicely, you can get to the base from inside, just need to drop the headlining a bit after you have removed the rear courtesy light.
I'll have a look later on for the link, I seem to remember it came from ABS site many years ago.
