Omega General Help / Sub framme bushes alignment
« on: 28 August 2011, 12:49:53 »
When the maintenance guide talks of the solid part of the bush to the sides and slots to front and back – is this aligned/square to the car or the sub-frame arm (45 degrees to the car)?

The front of the bushes I’ve just removed pointed along the sub frame and so where at 45 degrees to the wheels.

Thanks

Omega General Help / Air Con Compressor
« on: 14 May 2010, 07:50:41 »
Have had an air con leek traced to the compressor, which also gets hot and noisy – it’s been turning when it should have disengaged, i.e. no pressure.

Anyone have any experience in changing a compressor they can pass on and is it a job for one person with the car on axle stands?

Thanks

Omega General Help / Battery Light while on A1
« on: 19 August 2009, 16:32:09 »
Just under 2 hours ago my battery light came on while  going on holiday in North Yorkshire.  30 miles later, I'm at the traffic lights in Pickering and loose all dials and power etc.  I am now at my destination having had a tow the last 10 miles.

Am I right to assume that this is the alternater (replaced/reconditioned 2 years ago) or could there be something simpler that I can check?  I have limited tools here and a begged internet connection.

Would a full charged battery get me the 120 home without alternater, aircon and radio etc...?

Thanks.

Omega General Help / Crankcase breather on V6
« on: 13 July 2006, 13:55:06 »
Just started to clear my breather but can not get the wipers off.  :-[

Have removed the cap, nut and washer - is there anything I've missed or do I just need to be more forceful?

Thanks

General Car Chat / Omega handbrake cable...
« on: 14 December 2009, 10:40:19 »
I’ve searched the forum and checked tradeclub and only come up with one part number (2440462).  Is it the same part(s) for saloons and estates?  Thanks.

General Discussion Area / Camcorder / firewire problem
« on: 18 June 2009, 11:39:02 »
I have two camcorders (Sony and Panasonic), two IEEE 1394 cables (1 new) and two compatible computers (both WinXP SP2) but neither computer sees either camcorder.   >:(

Having just reformatted and reinstalled XP on the newer machine I'm about to pull my hair out!   :o

Any ideas please?

General Discussion Area / Wiring thermostat for condensing boiler
« on: 05 December 2008, 10:27:00 »
Just bought a “volt free” clock/programmer to replace my combi’s internal mechanical one.

Thermostat gives the connections; Common = Live, Normal Open = Neutral & Normal Closed = no connection.  Boiler has a terminal block (currently shorted) with two identical feed wires and no labelling.

Am I right to assume that being little more than an on/off switch, the wiring from the clock to the boilers terminal block can be either way round?

Thanks

General Discussion Area / Windows XP will not boot
« on: 14 August 2007, 17:03:19 »
I’m being told that <windows root>system32\hal.dll is missing or corrupted.  I’ve tried replacing it with a copy from another machine but it didn’t work – is it machine pacific?

Can anyone tell me what I could/should be doing?

Thanks
