Wheel wobble when braking.

I've noticed quite a vibration through the steering wheel under moderate braking through 55 - 45 MPH.

I've had my wheels balanced to motorcycle tolerances and front disks checked for warpage and they're ok, (Should hope so! They're almost brand new!!).

Any ideas?

Wishbone bushes probably. Have you had them checked?  ::)

Could be seized caliper, ie only gripping disk on one side. See what the pads look like on that wheel, if you know which one.  Are they worn uneven?. Might have to relpace the disk as well.?

Ah, well, I was leaving that out to see if someone came up with that. The chap that said the brakes were fine said that the bushes were 'a little bit' worn. Read into that what you will, but am I right in saying that the bushes can be replaced independently of the wishbone or do they come as one part?

They can be replaced independently......but you need a special set of tools and an 8 ton press......which I happen to have in my garage....

So you're in a position to 'refurb' wishbones? (Not that mine should need doing - did them around 30k ago)

Hmmmm!! how about that! I'm in Nottingham on Tuesday!!

No! I'm only joking!!  ;)

So would it in fact be easier to replace the wishbones intact?

Only if you get the welder out and repair it after applying too much thrutch last time  ;D

Its much easier to replace the whole wishbone.
There has been some discussion about the durability of bushes in the pattern wishbones, the Vx parts seem to last longer but are twice the price.
I made a press to try replacing the bushes only and to try some BMW bushes which are stiffer so may last longer / improve handling. But we have found that the old bushes rust into the wishbone so even with lots of heat applied and the safety valve lifting on the hydraulics (around 8 tonnes applied pressure) we are only just able to remove the old bushes.
So the choice is between pattern ones and (possibly) be prepared to change them more often or Vx ones with a bigger hole in your wallet.

Thinking about it, I'd go with "The Boy",  track rod end. With Vauxhall they like you to replace the inner and outer  together which again is a good policy. IF it is a worn track rod end it must be bad I would think?.
