hi there, ive put the feelers out about any east anglia meets but it seems to be an unpopulated owners area! i live in kings lynn and have thought of popping over to the midlands meets or the main yearly ones.  if you find any other omega owners in the area reel them in!! tone.

LOL, if only I could convince my mum - see has a quad garage, with nice painted floors so can mop any fluids away, and 4+ acres to camp in, and just outside Newmarket.  She'd never allow a bunch of greasy, dirty, beered-up louts though :(

I noticed some of the posts in this thread are quite old... have i missed the boat?

Why not try the forest centre between Thetford & Brandon. Make it in the summer as the is loads for people to do so you can bring the kids and the other half.

Could only be a daytime event as there is no camping on site

Cheers
Andy

Could be a good meet but someone local needs to make enquiries regarding sites, dates etc if it's going to happen. I know that area of Norfolk fairly well through work & it's accessible to most being central, but a local member needs to take the next step. The Lakesmeet seems to be happening 2 months earlier this year so maybe a late summer do i.e Aug Sept?
It's down to you local lads to look further. Lovely neck of the woods for an Omega meet.
    Watching this space..... :) :y

hi all fellow anglians, i have today been to a lovely camp site and spoken to the owner who would love a visit from the oof members !(http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o66/toneavenger/03_13_0.jpg )(http:// http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o66/toneavenger/03_13_1.jpg) is all the camp details, the owner has stated that on the given weekend/day he will cordon off an area exclusively for us and he doesnt mind us doing engine bits (within reason) and having a good laugh (within reason). he has also stated that he will make canoes available for a quick sail down the river and reduce the day rate for those who cannot stay overnight. so all in all agood place to go.
all we need to do now is to arrange some positive dates etc. any q&a's
IM me, tone.

I live in Germany but I could jump on the overnight Hook of Holland - Harwich ferry and meet up.  I have a cambelt tool kit plus some other gadjets.  I can do Cambelts, breathers, gearbox oil (not sure if owner ok on this one) and plenty of other oddjobs too.

I can also go down to the local trout lake and catch the odd trout for ther bbq (slightly out of season in july though  :-/ )

Has there been any more progress on the possibility of this meet? It'll be a really good opportunity to put some names to faces!

Unfortunately, living so far east, all the other meets are such a way away it can be difficult to get across to them!!

Is anyone thinking of coming over who has gone down the DIY LPG route? I'd be interested to see the kit in action before I do mine!!

if you want to buy the cambelt locking kit i think a sykes pickavant kit is in the region of 175 quid or about 50 if they come up on ebay.some people have apparently had problems with the accuracy of lazer kits which can be bought a lot cheaper, they can be hired from autovaux if you buy the kit from them,or post up 500 posts asap and then i know of an essex member who has one. :y

i have today contacted the campsite owner regarding a meet weekend on  sat 2nd/sun 3rd aug.
they will be making a large area available for us for the meet but have requested that they are contacted direct on 01366 500075 to book either the day or overnight for a pitch if tenting/caravinng etc.  if turning up on the day you will need to visit the site office regardless.
they are asking the confirmation of attendance for spacing reasons.
the campsite details and prices are on threads page 4.
if you do not contact to advise you may not have any space available if you arrive in-day. tony. also if you are thinking of bringing canoes/kayak this place is ideal to moor off from being pitched right next to the river whissey !!!!! anyone with any questions please pm me tony. ;)

i too will have a jumpstarter and tools etc, AND i have a gazebo... not sure how much help this will be as i'll only be up for the day. its big enough to drive an omega into / underneath though (tried and tested!). if anyone else has one then the more the merrier... Would it be ideal to have a list of oof's attending, and a list of precise tools

Would it be ideal to have a list of oof's attending, and a list of precise tools
people may require.  Just thinking if anyone wants a particular tool it may be handy to find out someone may have one to bring and also get a vague idea of how many people are attending.  TIA :)

I will be attending for duration - please add you name :y

things have been a bit quiet on here lately, is it still going ahead? if so add me to the list for the day, probs the saturday.

as for tools, i will bring my ratchet set, spanner set, toolbox full of sockets and stuff, no jack or axle stands though sadly. oh and if the weathers looking bad i can bring the gazebo for the day to drive the miggys into (yup they fit in it perfectly!)...

...any news on any tech2's that will be present, would love to get a gearbox upgrade, and are there any specific jobs that people are requesting from other attendees?

 :y

I should be attending for the whole weekend... Promised SWMBO that it'll be a good crack and that I wont spend all day working on cars though!

I might be doing some of the work on my LPG conversion, depending how far I have managed to get beforehand!

Must ring and book a leccy pitch!  ::) ::) ::)

I spoke to campsite owner yesterday, thay are clearing an area of road underneath a bridge on the campsite. so there will be some solid ground and shelter for oofers to work on their migs.

Hopefully should be a good weekend. :y

Just to let ya know theres a fuel garage opposite the site which has a small shop and the site has good access. i will be bringing a couple of disposable bbq's and a small gas burner for me brews!
i think it will be a brill weekend as it will be good company and a lovely river setting !!

Post by: Lazydocker on 05 July 2008, 19:44:02
I've got the Pikey Wagon, complete with a little Gas BBQ and a wife who is threatening to do some baking before we come over (if she gets a chance as she's very busy at work).

We're really looking forward to the weekend. All I need to do now is gather together a small travelling toolbox just in case!! I'm not really planning to do much TBH but am willing to lend a hand/moral support to anyone who is! I'll see how I feel... I'll have my LPG kit by then so I may have a little play with some of that! :-/ :-/ :-/

spoke to site owner just now, she said that like me, those not staying only have to pay a nominal charge for use of the toilets and taps as theyre on a water meter. fair enough. just check in as others will on the day!

should be good  :y

just sent a pm out to every single member who registered interest on this thread outlining details. it still seems some of them aren't aware of this weekend... anyway, if you're reading this you probably received one, but it says:

anglia oof meet this weekend thetford

hi there

im sending this pm out to all those who expressed interest in the anglia oof meet. you may already be aware of this event, you may already be coming, but im just working through everyone who posted on the original thread as some of you weren't aware this was taking place.

the info :

this coming weekend, 1st/2nd/3rd august, thetford.

fantastic campsite found by our very own 'sir moanalot' next to the river. great facilities, all are welcome, very reasonable costs for camping.

some of us are going for the whole weekend, tents and vans welcome,
others are just coming up for the day (saturday seems to be the day of choice for this so far).

there is an area being cleared for work on cars if you want to get stuck in, or just enjoy the weekend relaxing with other oofers!

the details of the site are below. if you want more info, or to register your interest then please let us know by confirming your attendance or viewing the threads below:

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1215269904

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1217278126

please be aware that the campsite owners are being very accomodating, and as such have requested advance bookings so that they can get an idea of numbers. contact them directly, and if coming confirm on the relevant thread above.

Its a shame you lot didn't book up somewhere near Gt Yarmouth. I am on holiday at Kessingland not far from Yarmouth. I would have come over to you where you are staying and shown my face but at nearly 70 miles away got to conserve fuel for the trip home on Monday with the caravan. Hope you all had a good time, don't forget to post up some pics of the event.
