Omega General Help / Re: Healight servo motor??
« on: 18 June 2010, 21:20:05 »
Bit tight but can be done, remove battery or air filter box to improve access.
Twist anti-clock to remove then unhook the ball joint. Might need a mirror to get the ball joint back.
HID lights use a different motor to the std halogen lights so get the right one from the breakers.

Omega General Help / Re: Cutch pedal onfloor
« on: 11 June 2010, 13:27:38 »
As said, check the level in the brake fluid reservoir, if low refill then bleed the clutch properly.
The clutch pedal has a strong spring which helps to push the pedal down once you pass a certain point...hence the pedal stays on the floor if you lose fluid.
You must find where the fluid has gone....it could be a leaky clutch component but it could also be a leak in the brake system somewhere so do not ignore it.

The knob is a press fit on the shaft and should pull off but likely to be very tight.

Omega General Help / Re: Just changed the cat and full exhaust
« on: 08 June 2010, 23:28:39 »
Pattern front pipes are very noisy, sound like the exhaust is blowing, worse in summer when you have the windows open and pass a wall or a parked car.
If you cant live with it look for some exhaust wrap on e-bay, often sold to reduce under bonnet temperatures. It works well if you fit it with a 50% overlap wrap. Easy to fit with the pipe off the car......bit of a sod with it on the car.

Omega General Help / Re: Speedometer light not working
« on: 02 June 2010, 13:33:12 »
iirc there are two or three bulbs which light the speedo and rev counter between them.
Is the dashboard dimmer working correctly? Gear selector lights etc should be on full normally and then follow the dimmer when sidelights are switched on.

I fitted a clamp-on flexible section to a previous 2.0, bought off ebay.
There wasnt much pipe length to play with but I cut the old section out with an angle grinder in-situ, leaving as much pipe as possible and then clamped on the new section with exhaust paste.
Always meant to weld it up next time the gearbox was off (dont ask) but it lasted for 3 or 4 years till I sold it on.

Omega General Help / Re: Air Con Compressor
« on: 14 May 2010, 10:29:00 »
Could be done on ramps or axle stands.
No need for two people, if you move the wiring loom/ power steering hose aside you can see the bolt for the pipe connector....just fit all your 3/8 extensions together and undo the bolt from above.
You will have to rotate the compressor as it comes out, make a note which way to make it easier to fit the replacement.
I would get new O rings for the compressor connector.

Which bit is getting hot...the clutch due to drag? If the compressor body is getting hot this is more serious and can mean a blockage on the HP side.

You know where to find me. Pete.

I am going to put it all back together tonight and go for a start-up.....then some T2 tests.

Mark, if you want an excuse to delay this another day or two then I'm in need of a strong pair of hands on some 4m worktops.

This should be arriving to take up SWMBO's parking spot on Thursday.

/whisper mode whats the tyres like on this Mark? I need to swap my fronts. Also is there any play in the steering box, he wouldnt notice if I swapped it as he rarely has the wheels pointing straight ahead /whisper mode

Give me a shout when you are ready to start Mark, I could do with a laugh break from kitchen fitting.

Omega General Help / Re: Engine cutting out
« on: 18 April 2010, 20:31:51 »
Do the paper clip trick to flash out any engine fault codes. I suspect you will find a code 19 stored which means poor quality signal from the crank sensor.
New crank sensor should fix it.
Recent comments suggest Vx only for the crank sensor due to crap versions being sold via e-bay.

Omega General Help / Re: oil around diff
« on: 10 May 2010, 12:51:51 »
The guide is for a pinion shaft seal. If it is an output shaft seal leaking then its easier to fix.
Just unbolt the drive shaft from the back of the hub and swing it clear.
Use a tyre lever / pair of LARGE screwdrivers etc to pop the drive shaft out of the diff (its held in with a spring ring)
Prise out the old seal and fit the new one.
Reassembly is the reverse etc etc.

V6 fuel pump does not run until engine rotation is detected by the crank sensor.
You had a 73 stored (crank sensor)....are you sure the new sensor is a good one?

Omega General Help / Re: Waterpump change - wishful thinking?
« on: 04 May 2010, 13:57:10 »
You can change the water pump without removing the outer cambelt cover, just rinse away any coolant from the belt.
If the old pump is reluctant to come unstuck from the block you run the risk of damaging the cambelt cover when persuading the pump.
Dont drop any bolts etc !!

Omega General Help / Re: vacum pipe

Look in the maintenance guides....there is one for the vacuum pipe layout for the V6 which should help you work out what is wrong
