General Discussion Area / Why did we go for Omegas?
« on: 13 July 2007, 23:53:06 »
Been a slow day at work and i got to wondering why we all picked Omegas as our cars. I picked mine after driving an undercover plod MV6, i know i ended up with an elite which i think is the dog's bo**OCKs and as much as i like the MV6 for its driveability, i do love the elite for it's comfort, just wonderd why you all picked yours?

General Discussion Area / Manifold gasket at the same time?
« on: 11 July 2007, 20:28:33 »
Weather permiting this weekend i will be doing my breathers and now leaking rocker gaskets, however i do have a slight blow on the o/s manifold gasket that is noisey on start up but does go after a few mins when all is warm and expanded. The question is do i do the gasket at the same, however i have heard that if the studs are broken or snap then it is a head off job, which i cant afford to happen at the moment as the car will be needed again at 4.30 monday morning. So, is the head off sinario correct? and should i go for it or not :-/

General Discussion Area / Brake pipe flaring tool available
« on: 11 July 2007, 22:11:53 »
Just been clearing out the shed and found my brake pipe flaring tool. I bought this to replace the pipes on my Range Rover and never used it again. It is the professional type that mounts in the vice and had a leaver action as appossed to the screw type. It was bloody expensive and cateres for 3 sizes of pipe. I would be willing to lend it out to site members who are known to us all if anyone needs such a peice of kit. Just thought i would let you all know as it saved me a small fortune when it was needed.

General Discussion Area / Are the stickers working?
« on: 04 July 2007, 21:58:47 »
Just wondered if the OOF stickers are working. I have noticed a big increase in visitors to the site of late and since i now proudly display my sticker in the rear window, i have had several fellow omega owners flash me, one being a rather attractive blond in a silver elite, i would like to think it was my good looks that prompted her to do so, but in reality think it was the car or the sticker, guess i will never know  :'(

General Discussion Area / back on the straight and narrow
« on: 04 July 2007, 17:41:09 »
For a while now the meega has seemed somewhat vague in the steering department and i have spent hours checking the steering system over with no obvious defects, it also flew through its MOT. I tried playing with the tyre pressures and even changed fronts to rears but no improvement was found. I popped in to see my mate at his tyre company and was explaining my problem to him. Well he has just purchased the very latest state of the art tracking system so the megga was tested, every reading was out, castor, camber, toe and several others both front and rear BUT all were within the tollerance, anyway we spent the next hour getting every measurment spot on with no tollerances and the difference is unberlivable, the car feels like a different vehicle totally. Just goes to show how tolerance measurements can make all the differance.

General Discussion Area / Noah V the Government
« on: 16 June 2007, 22:26:22 »
In the year 2007, the Load came unto Noah, who was now living in England and said
"Once again, the earth has become wicked and over-populated, and i see the end of all flesh before me. Build another Ark and save 2 of every living thing along with a few good humans"
He gave Noah the CAD drawings, saying "You have 6 months to build the Ark before i will start the unending rain for 40 days and 40 nights"
Six months later, the Lord looked down and saw Noah weeping in his yard, but no Ark.
"Noah" He roared, "I'm about to start the rain! Where is the Ark?"
"Forgive me Lord," begged Noah, "but things have changed. I needed Building Regulations Approval. I've been arguing with the Fire Brigade about the need for a sprinkler system. My neighbors claim that i should have obtained planning permission for building the Ark in my garden because it is development of the site even though in my view it is a temporary structure. We had to go to the Secretary of State for a decision. The department of transport demanded a bond be posted for the future costs of moving power lines and other overhead obstructions, to clear the passage for the Ark,s move to the sea. I told them that the sea would be coming to us, but they would hear nothing of it. Getting the wood was another problem. All the decent trees have Tree Preservation Orders on them and we live in a Site of Special Scientific Interest set up in order to protect the spotted Owl. I tried to convince the environmentalists that i needed the wood to save the owls- but no go!  When i started gathering the animals, the RSPCA sued me. They insisted that i was confining wild animals against their will.  They argued the accommodation was too restrictive, and it was cruel and inhumane to put so many animals in a confined space. Then the County Council, the Environment Agency and the Rivers Authority ruled that i coulden't build the Ark until they'd conducted an environmental impact study on your proposed flood.  I'm still trying to resolve a complaint with the Equal Opportunities Commission on how many BMEs I'm supposed to hire for my building team.  The trades unions say i can't use my sons. They insist i have to hire onlyCSCS accredited workers with Ark-building experience.  To make matters worse, Customs and Excise seized all my assets, claiming i'm trying to leave the country illegally with endagered species.  So forgive me, Lord, but it would take at least 10 years for me to finish this Ark".
Suddenly the skies cleared, the sun began to shine, and a rainbow stretched across the sky. Noah looked up in wonder and asked,  "You mean you're not going to destroy the world?"
"No" said the Lord.  "The government beat me to it"

General Discussion Area / Who's who at the lakes?
« on: 06 June 2007, 19:38:01 »
Just a thought about the lakes meet. Seeing as some of us have never met some of the others and some of us have never met any of you, i wondered if it may be a good idea to maybe pop a sign in our miggys windows with our screen names and our propper names on just so we have an idea who we are talking to :-/ Mind you after a few beers none of us may care or know who we are talking too ;D

General Discussion Area / Electric hookup at the lakes
« on: 04 June 2007, 15:54:34 »
Just thought i would let anyone know who would like a hookup at the lakes. I have just phoned the site and mine is now booked as it says on the site web page that electric hookups are free for tents if booked in Advance. The lady did say only one other is booked at the moment so if anyone wants one it may well be worth giving the site a quick bell and booking yours. Tell her you are in the Mr Ward block booking. Hope this helps and see you there, Cheers, Jez  :y
