Title: Omega B FL key cut
Post by: zYx on 08 January 2008, 16:05:52
Hi,
I only got one key with remote control and boot opener.
Vaxhall dealer can do it for me for 'just' £115.
Is there any other place I could do that cheaper?
Thanks.

My spare keys tend to cost me around £15:

£8 for blank with transponder
£5 for 2nd hand fob from ebay
£2 to get blank key cut

Owning a (real) Tech 2 (or 2 ::)), the programming costs me nothing...

I too only have one key.

I take it the car needs to be present to program the key with the tech 2 (i.e. without being presumptuous, there's no way it could be done by posting you a blank key that you could program and send back to someone for a small fee [of course])?

Tech2 needs to talk to the car - you actually program the new key to the car's Immobiliser and car's alarm (or cl for those cars without alarm).

So short answer, No, it can't be done by post.  But as you are in Sutton Coldfield, you are near Marks_DTM_Calib, and about 1hr for me, both of us can program keys...

I have no facelift 3 button fobs, so you'll need to bring one, along with carpass.

My Tech2 is a bit poorly, but I'm sure M_DTM will bring one along...

Thanks, that's ideal, I'd like to change my cambelt soon.

I've done a search for the Cambelt Party but can only find a couple of references to it.  Is there a dedicated post where I can register my interest?

I have just bought a spare key for my Omega off ebay. I need to get a new blank cut for it, can any locksmith supply a blank and cut it for me or is this Vauxhall stealer part only ?

Can the transponder with the spare key be programed to match the original key ?

car pass is a dealer. Prices vary from £15 to £50 in my experience.
